Jack Clarke 17:24 - Aug 30 with 1294 views | urbanblue | Seemed to play with a lot more freedom and confidence today.
Jack Clarke on 17:25 - Aug 30 with 1273 views | J2BLUE | Don't like criticising players but he looks a shadow of the Sunderland player. He repeated one move about five times today and that seems to be the one move in his locker at the moment. Badly needs a confidence boost.

That was slightly the circumstance of the game. There was no space out wide so he had to come inside across the front of the block. I thought he was one of the few who bought real urgency when they came on.

And yet, I think, beat his man each time he did that move? I would question more his end product. Also, fair play to him, slotting in at left back but still got involved. I'm not saying you are wrong, he's clearly not as effective as the payer at Sunderland.

That's a fair point. Beat his man then just ran into a defender. Just needs some confidence but easier said than done.

Struck that pen with confidence. There is a player there and I think that's the frustration. I'm not sure it's the formation or tactics either - as we operate with a wide attacking player on both wings. I don't think it matters too much whether he's got chalk on his boots allowing to Leif to play inside or vice versa. I think you are right, confidence generally for sure.

I think the rest of our team are still cottoning on to what he does and need to make themselves more available (by anticipating the spaces he makes and runs into) so that the end product flows from his razzle dazzle into penetration into the box and shots on goal.

Jack Clarke on 17:42 - Aug 30 with 1000 views | Len_Brennan | Some people have made up their minds that he is no good & cannot acknowledge when he plays well, the circumstances of the game he is in, or the lack of options available to him when he gets into a dangerous area atound the box. Clarke played well in his limited time on the pitch today, looked up for it & was constantly looking to be positive. He did more than McAteer or Philogene & had balla of steel fir the penalty, which I felt was far superior to the one Hirst took (& scored) v Birmingham.

Yeah, very 1 dimensional run with the ball sideways and pass if an angle to drive at the goal isn’t there. He doesn’t run in behind, overlap. Broadhead is a much cleverer footballer than him And would mix it up for us.

I still believe in Jack and think he will come good. Great at finding space and holding the ball. I can see him doing something creative when he gets the ball. Philogene on the other hand, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him fall down the leagues in the next few years.

Jack Clarke on 19:00 - Aug 30 with 629 views | CaptainAhab | Thought it was a very decent canoe today from him. So glad he put the pen away, feared that could have been the end of him if he'd missed. Showed his fight right there
Jack Clarke on 19:22 - Aug 30 with 545 views | Smoresy | Agree thought he had a good cameo today (welcome change from previous games), brought urgency and brought Davis in better - people have mentioned he only had one trick but I saw at least a couple of good through balls as well, leading to good opportunities for others to cross or cut inside in the penalty area. Thought Akpom was bright also and so too Taylor tbf, much as he's another Jack who's unwanted by many.

Jonathan Rowe is another player who can put in a decent canoe.

That's a fair assessment IMO. I could do what he does, cutting inside every time and then passing square to the CM or right back, it's totally predictable. He needs to develop a left foot and work on variety. However MASSIVE RESPECT to him for taking and scoring that penalty, under the hugest of pressure, there may well be some hope he'll come good with balls of steel like that.
Jack Clarke on 20:29 - Aug 30 with 301 views | tortoise | I thought Clarke improved us when he came on. He was always looking for the ball and showed some good touches. Hopefully the goal will do him a lot of good as well. I found Philogene and Davis frustrating in the first half - they didn’t seem to want to attack the space in front of them. However, last 20 of the first half he was good. Good control, lots of nice lay offs. Thought we looked good as a team for that period. I think they’ll both come good, however the Norwegian lad may well be better. We’ll just have to see. The player who I thought was very poor was Hirst. Azon can’t think he has much to improve on to get picked.
