13 mins of injury time is a third of the second half 19:41 - Aug 30 with 1289 views | bluelagos | No genuine injuries - so that's a hell of a lot of sh1thousing / faking injuries / strolling off when subbing players etc. Fair dos to the ref for adding as much time as he did - but no cards for the slowing down of the game? Edit...changed title to better reflect what I meant. Originally said "1/3 of the game" [Post edited 30 Aug 21:04]

13 on the board, played 16, but obviously a fair length delay for the penalty. The incident when their number 3 pretended to be injured on the edge of their box took a full 5 minutes. Plenty more that took a long time too. Just so blatantly cheating.

He means a third of the game (ie second half) for which the time has been added, as the first half has its own time added.

Derby also wasted 4 of the first 5 minutes of injury time. Only got themselves to blame.

Indeed. Each half has its own extra time. 13 of 45 is pretty much 1/3 of the second half added on for time wasting etc.

13 mins of injury time is a third of the game on 21:07 - Aug 30 with 956 views | Vaughan8 | Please tell me I'm not the only one who left that game thinking it's the worst game they've been to in a while ......and my last game was Spurs at-home. To manipulate a rule that is supposed to help players with concussion etc is so bad I'm not sure where to start. To fall over holding your head on numerous occasions when clearly nothing has happened is just so bad. Can someone work out how many times they had an injury and how many of those were head injuries. Something needs to be done about that rule. As for the ref well, he was awful too. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

The pretending you have a head injury was getting silly. And Greaves does it too, not to time waste, to stop an attack and then is suddenly absolutely fine once the whistle goes. Gets on my tits and risks the ref ignoring an injury if he thinks the players are not genuine.

Don't stop the game for an injury. Treat it like rugby - have the physio come on and treat the player whilst it continues.

someone once suggested that any player who goes down with a head injury should spend at least 5 mins on the sidelines being checked by a doctor for possible concussion…reckon that would stop a lot of cheating…

Although once you have added on the nineteen minutes that the second half extended to then you find that thirteen minutes is only about a fifth of the half by the time the final whistle goes...

I saw a suggestion that a player should go off for a minute if they’re down for more than 30 seconds regardless to if the physio comes on. Another is if the keeper needs “treatment” an outfield player goes off for a min.

The counter argument is that it could be extremely dangerous as it may discourage someone who genuinely should be checked from staying down.

If they’re injured they’ll receive treatment before going off the field. Just really frustrating to see a player go down, only for 3 mins later get up and run around like nothing happened. If they know they’ll have to sit out 60 seconds they might get up and get in with it sooner.

Agree 100%. Also, the rule as originally intended was to check a player and then take them off the pitch for treatment, not stop the game and wait for them to be treated. Seems clubs didn’t like this as you hurt a player and gained a power play.

Did it take them 2 minutes to take a throw in late in the second half, or was that for a feigned injury too? (was listening to audio commentary).
