Can see both getting regular starts before too long.
Both looked quite handy yesterday, Akpom especially. Azon won the knock down for the penalty (or at least challenged the CB well enough so he couldn't properly clear), he's a bigger unit that I was expecting. Maybe harsh on Hirst, hopefully that was just an off day for him.
Akpom looked a class apart almost instantly to me. Decisive in his passing, aggressive, happy to run with the ball and he was coming really deep in the last few minutes to get the ball of the CBs, effectively as a playmaker. Unlucky with his run and shot over the bar on his weaker side. Promising.
Strongest team in a few weeks could be this:

*He's not going to spend much time sitting on the bench after going for £17m is he?
Hell of a job for McKenna to get them familiar with each other and and finding those patterns.

No disrespect to Hirst, but I don't see him as a starter. He just not clinical or instinctive enough in front of goal for me. Good to be able to bring him on to close out a game, but I see him as someone used off-the-bench once all the new signings are settled in. | | | |

True, but we were in great form. We had Jackson, but he didn’t cut it. Hirst was vital to our promotion that season. For whatever reason he seems to have lost the ability to hold the ball up this year. | |

You could argue he showed 'something' by stepping up to take that penalty, and then slotting it right in the top corner.
He does at least get on the ball and run at defenders. | |
