Please stop mentioning alluding to or crediting directly or indirectly Paul Cook, in any way whatsoever.
Thanks!

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Why? you can't change history, which includes Paul Cook bringing in a number of players that then formed a large part of the success following his departure.

Say what you like about Paul Cook, but I respect him for doing what needed to be done and rebooting the first team squad. That took real courage.

Morsy wouldn't have come to us if it wasn't for Cook.

And we wouldn't have got out of League One in 2023 without Morsy.

Poor ol Cookie. Those players were going to gel any second when he was sacked.

I REALLY regret ruining the club by getting him sacked sometimes.

Cook actually did an amazing job of player recruitment, KM has certainly benefitted from it, Cook just couldn't put the pieces of the Jigsaw together.

It’s funny how so many players seem to respect him when he’s such a limited old school manager. But yes, he was vital to attracting some of those players.

Must have been such a difficult job signing loads of players he already knew/who were obviously good when we were the biggest club in the division paying excellent salaries. You’re right what was I thinking he was and is a genius.

But his transfer hit rate in the demolition summer was remarkable?! on 13:51 - Sep 3 with 1562 viewsunstableblue

Yes he didn’t get the team to gel or work - perhaps due to lack of his established assistant. Too much change and perhaps not a good enough manager.

13 or 14 key players for McKenna to work with. Very high success rate.

He got Macaulay Bonne enjoying his football and scoring for fun...

Then Cook's Dad died, and things unraveled for him.

He is our least worst Paul.

Did the hard work in totally tearing apart a failing team, with no sentiment, and with no fear of fan backlash. That takes balls. Bought in a lot of players that we have come to look at with nothing but fondness and great memories, just couldn't get them working with any cohesion, which we all know takes time, and he was working with a tiny and pretty under experienced coaching team ( I know he chose to bring them in, but still).

Obviously, we moved onto better things, but you can't under play the work he did, or his success as a manager, we're really the bleak spot on a pretty decent CV. Decent guy by all accounts.

Fair play to him, he managed to destroy the team spit of two whole sets of players in under a year.

And he was a likeable bloke. Overseeing all that change not easy.

Also I loved his three voices in interviews.

I also liked that he did his small acknowledgement to the crowd before the game and left the players to do the after game.
