I saw the transcript. He hinted that it was the fans, a lack of bravery from the players and the ref. The only thing it definitely wasn't was his tactics. #fraud
I wasn't wanted in the first place and it wasn't my fault. We were robbed. We will keep working until I'm told not to. How can the atmosphere change without you leaving? I don't know!
The bloke is waiting to get sacked and hasn't got any ideas.

Only a matter of time before he went Full Lambert, wasn't it?
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

The arrogance of the man is unreal. You can see why they dislike him.

You don’t usually like to see someone struggling and likely kicked out of the job. However he is thoroughly unlikeable- all the traits of a narcissist.

Martin talking about the Rangers fans: "I don't think many of them wanted me here in the first place".
I don't know why, but my appreciation of RM just rocketed.
Great interview.
It was the best reply in the interview (hence the uppie) but I don't think it was a great interview from a public relations perspective (and that is how Martin differs from Lambert.) However as the most subtle set of replies telling journalists to improve their questioning skills it would take a lot of beating.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers 'Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh contacted Russell Martin for crisis talks on Sunday afternoon and has given the under-fire manager his full support.' Sounds like Martin will be gone by tomorrow, I wonder if Rangers have the financial clout, transfer coffers and Board of Directors discipline to lure Nuno Espirito Santo ?
I just watched it and I saw a guy under heavy fire monster questions, handling them as well as possible, while trying (and succeeding) to not say anything that will make the situation worse.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not a fan of his either - his track record of blaming of players is pathetic, but this particular press conference.... well i just wonder how he could handled it any better tbh.

Completely agree! I was expecting a horror show, but I thought he dealt with the questions really well and stayed calm and composed.

It obvious, it’s not his fault
They are good in training but the fans are upsetting them on match day
"...and having to have opponents, and a referee, and having to play in stadiums. What else? Oh yeah, not being allowed to wear bibs, or stand around looking at screens whilst combing your hair...
...if they'd just let us have points for how well we're training. But no observers thanks, we'll just say how good we were in training. Or I will. Three points please. Sorted."

If I was a Rangers fan, I'd be fuming, though.
He could say all of what he said here (which is very little, tbh), with a little more humility and some fire in his belly to get things right. Like, saying 'we need to win matches, we're working hard. Today wasn't good enough and we're in this together, we're going to improve', is also saying nothing, but far better than shrugging your shoulders and acting as if you don't even care.
