When will people start thinking critically and fact checking for themselves?
I said of the ones I have seen. A lot of have said 200k, 500k and rather fantastically 3m. Apologies for not reading every news source in the universe before posting.
No way was it anywhere near 500,000 it’s ridiculous to even suggest it, London would come to a standstill and it didn’t. If you have ever left a concert a Wembley with 80,000 to 90,000 people then would know it’s closer to that figure from the photos on the day.

I can see why the governement might lie about the figures. I can see why the organisers of the event might lie about the figures. I can't for the life of me see what the motivation would be for the police to lie about the figures.

Indeed, the OP actually asks the question why did the media and police lie so readily when, in fact, there is no evidence that their figures are anything but the most reliable estimates.

This looks like a pretty large amount of people to me.
Yes, from that aerial footage there certainly was a large crowd. Could easily be 100,000 plus. Certainly more than would fit in many football stadia. I wonder if you have similar footage of a known crowd size like that leaving Wembley all at once after a capacity event.
All of this would fit with the estimated attendance at Unite the Kingdom of around 100,000-120,000 from the similar footage. This is still a concerningly large turnout for an event with the speakers and organisers that it had.

Why cant you lot just accept that there might be other opinions to yours, without the sarky, condescending and over the top remarks.
The problem with these subjects, is that there's often a huge middle ground of opinion which is instantly dismissed and receives the pile on from the usual suspects.
Ive said it before, I'm sure the attitudes of a few stop a lot of people from posting.
Its the same posters and the same outcome, every bloody time.

Although to be fair, although there would be no way of knowing an exact figure. the OP doesn't help themselves with "Police say 110,000 on the Unite the Kingdom rally" (official Met Police figures estimated the crowd at between 110,000-150,000), and then following up with "There was quite clearly between 500,000 to a 1,000,000 people on that protest" without providing any sort of source for those numbers.
Saying that the Met Police know the crowd was considerably larger than their official estimate and are lying about it is borderline libellous though, so you'd hope the Met Police lawyers aren't regular readers of this site.
