“Divided we fall” has been the downfall of the Labour Party for decades, a facility for which Corbyn’s taken with him.

At least the Tories are following suit these days, let’s hope FarRage’s mob also do the splits very uncomfortably very soon.

All leaves many of us politically homeless though. Would the Greens be capable? How are the LibDems doing atm Elder Grizzly? Heard very little of them for months! (tho our local leader does a good job with communications).

The beeb article on this has a bit more detail: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgkn3v1e7g3o

Particularly on the membership fee which is £55. If she got 20,000 signups, that's a million according to the beeb - alot of money - who has it?

Just had a look at the membership application form. Is it usual to ask somebody disclose their sexual orientation when joining a political party?

The website looks well dodgy. Domain only registered two days ago.

Great ideas doth not a great leader make.

Muddled thinking and disastrous (non)leadership re Brexsh1t immediately spring to mind.

Wow. Wouldn’t join any party that asks for your sexual orientation on the application form, on principle.

Plus too much baggage, which made him an easy target for the hostile press.

Yep. I’ve no idea who’s at fault but neither come out of this well. If they can’t coordinate a party launch they’ve no hope of coordinating a government (not that they’ll get that far).

Lefties need to look to the Greens. The new leader is an excellent communicator. I don’t know what their position on the UN is now though which was always a problem for me with the old greens (despite Caroline Lucas being an exemplary politician).

As secretary of my local Labour party, I did campaign on the streets for him in both 2017 and 2019.

The 2017 election was interesting because from a very low base the momentum towards Labour was palpable on the streets when he was able to put forward his message during the much fairer period of a general election campaign. It was clear speaking to people less than 50 at the time that the system just wasn't working for them and Corbyn's message increasingly hit home.

Those in the Labour Party hoping for catastrophe (Stephen Kinnock's reaction springs to mind) were devastated and as we have subsequently found out pulled out all the stops to undermine Corbyn and prevent any possibility of a repeat in 2019.

For anyone interested, the following is an article on Anushka Asthana's book detailing what went on in relation to the undermining of Corbyn.
