Queueing in pubs 18:04 - Sep 22 with 4116 views | chicoazul | I usually only drink in a couple of local pubs but happened to find myself in a trendy pub in Southgate this weekend, don’t ask. There was a queue, yes madam that is what I said, queue, to the ramp to order. I have never seen anything like it in my life. I noticed it, walked past it, caught mine hosts eye and was served in no time in the usual way. Is this the New Jerusalem? Is this what we fought and trounced the Hun for, not once but twice? What does TWTD make of this shocking phenomena?

Queueing in pubs on 09:11 - Sep 23 with 806 views | Swansea_Blue | It happened to me at the Turf in Oxford earlier in the summer. I spent the whole time in the queue grumbling that it’s not right, you’d never have seen this in my day, blah, blah. Got near the front and there were signs telling people to queue. Bloody signs! Broken Britain innit.

Getting served…. on 08:47 - Sep 23 by Bloots | ….before someone else is one of the most important skills passed down from father to son over generations. Trying to spot who is being served and positioning yourself behind them so that you can slide into their space ahead ahead of the rest is one of the few pleasures left to man. It should not be lost to modern wokery. |
From the other side, I used to do a bit of bar work when i was a student. Was in a rough working men's club "oop north" and some of the people who came to the bar were right rude tw@ts. So i got to know who the assholes were and would deliberately ignore them and serve everyone else before them.

Tha bar free for all, where us big lads with the pointiest elbows get served quicker is as English as Yorkshire puddings, sh1te tattoos an fake tan. You can't just allow culture to be eroded away like that. I'm happy to never see another feckin camp Morris dancer, but we have to fight to keep the important cultural aspects. Like queuing at the bar, gala pie, 20 Benson rolled up in the sleeve of a T shirt, good strong pickled onions, the option of a drunken pub fight, ready salted Walkers, kebab! etc

Thanks, was previously completely unaware of the existence of the fiesta pie. Gonna get the partner ( the family expert on South American foods) to investigate this further this evening. Think I may encourage her to add the boiled egg in centre.. May be the only half decent pie that wasn't created in the UK. Unless I'm missing some kinda Euro pie info? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Maybe not strictly a pie but empanadas in Spain are not dissimilar to Cornish pasties. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empanada I can't vouch for them, however, because I'm not really a savoury pastry person and they look a bit dry for my liking with maybe less filling than a British pie. Fiesta pie very similar in many respects to Gala Pie, but the centre is not everlasting boiled egg, but components taken from an economy-range Ford motorcar Or possibly a rolled up copy of a "Gentleman's Magazine" from a bygone era

I don't mind an empanada, savoury ones especially, but they have a long way to go to trouble the classic Cornish pastie. Though when in Rome.. I find the Argentinians to be the King's of empanadas

Queueing in pubs on 08:35 - Sep 23 by bluelagos | Anyone approving of a queueing system in a pub is a wrongun who should be banned from all pubs immediately. The sort of person who objects to fans standing up at football. Or fans celebrating on the pitch after a promotion |
I'm with you on all those points. Having sat in Sir Bobby upper 2004-14 when normal bar etiquette existed, I was horrified to see a queue out the door on my return to the 81 bar 2 years ago. It's a life skill that our children need to learn too. Otherwise I fear for Earth's future.

Queueing in pubs on 16:55 - Sep 23 with 195 views | KBsSocks | Bring it on ! As a short, ugly mid-60's male, I used to have to wait twice as long as pointy-elbowed, taller inelegant uglies like leitrimblue to get served. The scrimmage I always hated as a customer. As a barsteward, I didn't mind, but I was always fair in my tending to customers, tall ugly, short ugly, elegant, inelegant ... didn't matter. Edit: I confess that I have danced Morris in my time, too. [Post edited 23 Sep 16:58]

Queueing in pubs on 18:00 - Sep 23 with 108 views | WolfieAtTheBack | I have picked up on this recently in a 'big spoons' in Salisbury and nearly caused a riot when I just walked to the bar and ordered my pint. Sames applies to the Spoons in BSE, not that I only go to these places, but, it seems more common in there. People who queue up in a line in a pub (any pub) should be barred and beaten ha

Does the queue go on to the pavement if 100s of people are single file?
