Morsy leaving Kuwait SC already…? on 15:40 - Sep 23 with 433 views | Pinewoodblue | There are 19;Chsmpionship clubs who have fewer than 25 over 21 year olds in their registered squad. Presumably Morsy would be welcome at any of them. https://s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/gc-media-assets.gc.eflservices.co.uk/139b0850 As he was gainfully employed when the window closed presumably he couldn’t play until the window opens in January. Aye I see that now on 13:32 - Sep 23 by Trequartista | yeah i'm sorry about that, my intention is not to trigger people, it's just i am left-leaning, and the behaviour, rather than the actual political views, of a significant section of society, is something i want nothing to do with, so i need a different label, and i tried radical leftists and people said trump uses that, so i switched back to woke left. appreciate the majority of the board (of which a plurality now support the green party in a recent poll) don't even agree there is any such thing, but i do and i feel i should be allowed to express it where i think appropriate. You can express what you want but your dismissive labelling of people who hold views you disagree with is the type of divisive tactic you claim to be against. So naturally people are going to call you out for using dismissive labels about the type of people who just think we should afford equal rights to minority groups. There was a time that was called basic decency rather than "woke left". I find it odd you say you're left leaning, I genuinely can't recall you expressing any left leaning views. Which of your positions are to the left of the political spectrum would you say? Genuinely curious.

Morsy leaving Kuwait SC already…? on 13:29 - Sep 23 by baxterbasics | If it was the Morsy of two+ years ago sure. His time at this level is done. Could be useful for a club at the lower end of the table though. |
Town are currently 17th in the table. More seriously, I guess Morsy has got fed up playing in a rubbish league, despite the money.

Morsy leaving Kuwait SC already…? on 08:36 - Sep 23 by Swansea_Blue | If true, then weird. But then there have been some high profile players who’ve gone there and regretted it. That League’s got a bit of a reputation for overselling itself and over-promising. I’m sure the money was a factor in tempting him, but personally I’d have stayed put here. You can’t buy what he had here. |
I thought a new experience for a boatload of money looked too good an opportunity to miss at 34 years old. I can understand why he went for it. There could be any number of reasons why it didn’t work out for him from family to culture to football standard. Who knows. Sometimes things just don’t work and you have to call it a day. I wish he’d stayed. I think he was a superb captain and good at what he did. Every team needs a player like that. I wasn’t interested in his beliefs or any of that stuff, personally. He could wear a Palestinian t shirt under his kit or a Romulan one for all I cared. It’s up to the individual and no business of mine. Would I welcome him back? Part of me says given the team looks a bit rudderless and how good he is, yes. Like a shot. The other part says no. Not at the moment. We have to move on. As a coach a year or two down the line, definitely if he is interested in that. However I always remember Wark when he returned aged 102 and I thought no way! Too old. Finished up in Lyall’s promotion team, player of the year, you name it so never say never. See where we are in January and if he’s keen, bring him in is my long winded conclusion.

I thought i'd made it clear both here and previously that i don't dismiss anyone's views that i disagree with, it is the behaviour i take exception to, so for example, I agree with affording equal rights to everybody, minority group or otherwise, so that's not what i mean by woke left i mean behaviour such as if someone didn't want to wear rainbow laces (for whatever reason), they would be told that is problematic and they would not get a new contract, effectively cancelling them, that is what i would term woke left. It's the imposition of that ideology rather than the position itself. I'd say I support the NHS, i support Trade Unions, i support gay rights, gay marriage, i oppose fox hunting, i would abolish the house of lords, i would abolish the monarchy, i have never voted for anyone but Labour in many elections, anything else?

trying to get someone sacked for expressing a view is more trumpian right than "woke" left these days. why choose "woke" left?

Morsy leaving Kuwait SC already…? on 10:00 - Sep 23 by PhilTWTD | I don't really see it as something likely. I think he wanted to move on as he saw that he wasn't going to start week in, week out going forward and I think the club were happy to allow him to go that being the case. |
I do find the differing treatment of Morsy and Woolfenden odd. The first the club captain, ever present last season. The second a bench warmer at best with little to no chance of that changing this season. The first given a free transfer and hero's send off by the club. The second had to push his way out, resulting in him joining a settled team after the season started and, in the process, leaving somewhat under a cloud with some fans.

But nobody has had their contract cancelled for not wearing rainbow laces and nobody has called for that to happen either, it's creating a bogeyman to attribute this happening or potentially happening to the "woke left". It's very Trumpian, in all honesty. People are, however, entitled to feel disappointed in someone if they choose not to engage in a gesture that's intended to promote inclusivity in a traditionally very macho sport where gay people haven't felt welcome and they are free to express that disappointment. My worry is that positions such as the one you're taking here create a false equivalence at a time when, in the US in particular, the right are suppressing free speech and seeking to cancel (or worse) dissenting voices.

(trumpian) right wing would be more weaselly, along the lines of:- "this person is saying something i disagree with, silence them or we'll make things hard for you"
