Can’t see that playing out the last few minutes of an abandoned game weeks.. 17:26 - Sep 24 with 1553 viewsbrazil1981

after is viable, it would have to be done later on the day of a match.

Putting aside the 5 hour travelling issues; you’re also unlikely to get the same 21 players available through fitness etc….which negates the ‘it’s the fairest’ argument. Blackburn would likely field a team to park the bus, we’d obviously do the opposite…

Suppose it would be an interesting spectacle but wouldn’t be a ‘continuation’ of the same match!

Like I’ve said elsewhere also, a 10 /15 minute game is completely different to the last 15 minutes of a 90 with fatigue and impact subs.

The ONLY sane option is a full replay. But my spidey senses tell me the EFL is going to fk us over.

It would irresponsible to ask a team to travel that far to play 15 minutes in front of no one, that just isn't happening.

Also can't see how they can assume Blackburn would have won the match just because they were a goal up and against 10 men. But I guess you have to think this is a possibility.

One assumes it's only taking so long because they're trying to get the replay pencilled in properly before announcing.

I hadn't realised but a couple of years ago Leyton Orient vs Lincoln was abandoned after 84 minutes with the home team winning 1-0.

This was replayed in full with the away team winning 1-0.

This was due to a medical emergency so when you consider our game was abandoned before this time and due to poor drainage on their part it can't be a different outcome.

The 1995 Copa del Rey final was the 93rd final of the Spanish cup competition, the Copa del Rey. The final was played at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid on 24 June 1995. The match was suspended after 79 minutes due to heavy rain and hail, and was resumed on 27 June 1995.

Realistically, there would have been at least 15 minutes left, probably closer to 18-20.

We also had nearly scored with Szmodics if not for good defending.

There is an obvious solution

We need to “replicate” the tiredness, so therefore we will play on Saturday 21 February.

We will have played Wrexham away, and they will have played Preston at home

We kick off the final 10 minutes at Ewood Park at say 8pm on our way home to Suffolk from Wales

What could possibly go wrong?

No chance it will be anything other than a full replay. If they decide to go down a different route against precedent, we will rightly pull their whole edifice down about their ears.

So why did the EFL ask yhe clubs to submit their opinions/reports? Why would the outcone depend on what the clubs think should happen ?

Legally they have to I guess as they don't have an automatic rule

Blackburn may for example have footage of KM telling players purposefully after the red card to play the ball along the ground in the wet patches to get the game called off

obviously we know he wouldn't have done, but that's something that Blackburn could have said IF it did.

One thing i will say though, the way town players reacted with the crowd after doesn't really help us imo, It's great to have a laugh with the fans etc... but Blackburn could propose that it showed our delight in getting the game abandoned after we constantly chased the official to call it off.

What could fk blackburn up however is if town can advise that KM spoke to the offical about the pitch before the red and before the pen.. Anything after can be seen as trying to save a result, however if it's clear and the official reports KM did indeed speak to him or the 4th official prior to events then it's a fair request and not one being made because we were down to 10 and 0-1 down.

Particularly when all the players would be fresh and raring to for what they know would only be 15-20 minutes. Not really thinking about player welfare and the strong likelihood of injuries there let alone the logistics for us. Tbh if they come up with that as a solution I’d give rovers the points. Let’s face it there would be every chance in the world of us snatching a point but three would be unlikely. So I don’t see risking injuries etc worth it for a point at most.

Fair enough I guess, but i can't see the referee admitting that he was influenced by Town to call thd game off.

Those last few minutes is not an option.

The more I think about it, how can they award them the victory. Its 1-0, yes we have 10 men, but its not impossible we would have got a goal.

The game probably should have been called off a lot earlier. If it was 0-0 at 79 mins would it just be wrote off as a draw? I doubt it.

Its just an unfortunate thing that Blackburn will have to suck up.

You’re right, it looks really odd that the team went to thank them for their support at the end of the game. They’ve never done that before.

Oh, wait a minute …

If last season Championship games had been of 75 minute duration Sheffield United would have been promoted as Champions

Couldn’t find any stats for 80 minutes

Yep, simply can’t happen. No guarantees that either side can field the same players.

Either a reply or Blackburn win the only reasonable outcomes. No sympathy for Blackburn they have had years to sort the pitch and drainage.

That said if decision as unlikely as it is, goes against us - we will have to point to yet more poor misses in first half. Three really good chances.

Didnt someone say the players were dancing and singing etc..

If all they did was clap like they usually do then of course no issue with that at all.
