Anyone ever travelled to the wrong place with the right name like this? on 15:49 - Sep 25 with 770 views | Tangledupin_Blue | A few years ago a Bulgarian lorry driver should have taken his load to Gibraltar. Instead, he took it to Gibraltar Point in Lincolnshire. I know a couple of occasions when drivers have gone to Newport in Wales but should have gone to Newport in Shropshire.

I was expecting that as the punchline too

Don't go "up north" to Newbiggin. There's loads of 'em.

I went from Apperley Bridge (Bradford) to Manchester on the train, bought ticket on train, and was charged for Appley Bridge (Chorley) - wondered why the ticket was so cheap, and did question the conductor, but to no avail.

Anyone ever travelled to the wrong place with the right name like this? on 12:39 - Sep 25 by FBI | My Stepdad once met a Swiss lorry driver looking for the airport in Stansted, just outside Glemsford. |
At least he was in the right region!
Anyone ever travelled to the wrong place with the right name like this? on 21:16 - Sep 25 with 509 views | Pendejo | In the world of Chauffeuring (posh minicabs) there's a couple of urban legends The driver who dropped in Orpington who was sent a pick up as part of a 4 car job from Leeds Castle (the days before trackers & sat nav), when he wasn't there 30 mins before pick up the controller rang him up to ask where he was he received a volley of abuse for only being given 2 hours to get to Leeds... Passenger picked up from Heathrow from a red eye promptly goes to sleep, drivers ancient "coggie" goes tech, stuck on a screen that said "S. Wales", pax wakes up to enquire where they were, the driver said he was glad he woke up as he didn't know where in South Wales they were going.... "That's my name, Steve Wales" Hythe Kent & Hythe Hampshire were regular errors (even I did that one), see also Gillingham, Kent & Dorset, Farnborough Hampshire & Kent

Anyone ever travelled to the wrong place with the right name like this? on 22:49 - Sep 25 with 446 views | IndependentlyBlue | Several years ago my Dad, a lorry driver, was asked by another lorry driver, who’d driven from Glasgow, where a particular address was in Norwich (this was in Norwich). My Dad looked at the adddress and had to tell the guy he’d misread it as Northwich.

It's busy too. | | | |
Anyone ever travelled to the wrong place with the right name like this? on 18:54 - Sep 26 with 103 views | Alberto_the_frog | I did once go to Filbert Street for an evening game against Ipswich. Headed for the floodlights with very little time left. Bought a programme outside, then realised I was at Leicester Tigers, who were playing a rugby match that night. Not too far away and I did just make it in time. Also managed to hand back the programme for my money back
Anyone ever travelled to the wrong place with the right name like this? on 19:08 - Sep 26 with 85 views | football | We bought tickets in New York to watch a game of football. Ended up at the the opposite side of the City due to there being two train stations with the same name. Saw several drug deals on the train as going through the Bronx, ended up in the middle of nowhere, waited an hour to go back to the City Centre, found a bar and watched it on TV

He told me about an an overseas professional snooker player turning up in Newcastle Under Lyme for a lucrative exhibition match in Newcastle Upon Tyne. [Post edited 25 Sep 13:26]

While running a transport firm, I had a driver delivering a load to Sunderland and gave him a reload adrss in Newcastle. He went to Newcastle under Lyme instead. Mind you should have known that he was not the sharpest knife in the drawer, when I found out where ever he was he used to go home to Basildon and his dad used to give him directions to get to the delivery point.
