How did he arrive before the end of the game in Bury St Edmunds if he was nearly 4 hours away? He must have got to Bury bloody early! And if Bury is 3h50 from BSE, his round trip must have been nearly 8 hours! I think once I'd got to Bury I'd be phoning the manager up and saying, I'm going to miss this one gaffer

He once took a train to Hythe station in Colchester instead of New Hythe, Kent. I did ask why he didn't stop to question why he was changing in London and heading north out it to get to Kent, needless to say he was a bit embarrassed.

This happened to someone I know. He drove down from Stoke and told me he couldn't understand why the roads were getting narrower the closer he was getting to the airport.

I was scratching my head wondering why Glemsford and Stansted would cause confusion, but I get it now. Yeah I can imagine a few people have headed to Stanstead rather than Stansted over the years. Certainly no airport there last time I checked, don't even think there's so much as a pub. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I'd assume, being at a semi pro level, the players are expected to turn up a fair bit early for the match (albeit, at the correct venue!) So perhaps he turned up about 12.30 at Gigg Lane, quickly realised his error and then, without speeding of course, spent 4 hours or so in the car, to arrive about 4.30 at BSE! Could've been worse, you could've bought tickets to see Griff Rhys Jones.

I must admit, I still don't get it. (Reading again, I guess there's a Stanstead near Glemsford? I've had official flight notifications with Stansted spelt with an a included. ) I was once late for a funeral because I thought East Bergolt must be reasonably adjacent to West Bergholt.
