Coach greeting on Sunday 12:41 - Sep 30 with 4360 views | Zx1988 | Is it wrong to feel in two minds about this? I appreciate (and am usually fully behind) BA's attempts at creating an atmosphere, but I understand that there is also a sentiment in some quarters that this did more harm than good last time out against Norwich.

Coach greeting on Sunday on 13:18 - Sep 30 with 1065 views | Luk38644 | Call me miserable but feels unnecessary on this occasion & I'm surprised the club are so keen to do it after the whole beer-can incident (although Delia is a berk for going the route she did). The players will know the importance before hand and even more so once they get into PR and hear the atmosphere, this just feels a bit OTT and has massive potential to backfire on us.
Coach greeting on Sunday on 13:20 - Sep 30 with 1047 views | CopfordBlue | I doubt it will have any negative impact and if fans want to do it then great. Generating a noisy, hostile environment inside PR during the game is going to be far more influential on the outcome. Last time the atmosphere 90 minutes before kick off with the coach greeting seemed better than the one inside the stadium. I’d say save it all up for the 90 minutes but BA are a well-intentioned group who have a done a lot to improve the atmosphere in the last few years and so I’m not going to knock them for this.

Agreed. Feels like a rare misjudgment from BA

Coach greeting on Sunday on 12:49 - Sep 30 by Reuser_is_God | It’s not just another game though is it? It never will be. |
yes, of course, that's why i said it was unrealistic. no matter how much the club would try to play it down, (both sets of) fans will be up for it, like no other game yet this season

Coach greeting on Sunday on 13:11 - Sep 30 by NthQldITFC | We absolutely pissed all over them in that game and they got incredibly lucky at both ends of the pitch. As much as us football fans tend to become superstitious when it comes to football, the cold hard laws of probability have a 93% chance of ensuring that doesn't happen again. That's a fact. |
The second paragraph is odd. “Cold hard laws of probability” - Probability is not deterministic. “Have a 93% chance” - this would have come frome a model or statistic, not a law. “That’s a fact” - Probabilities aren’t facts, they’re forecasts based on data.

Coach greeting - why it is a good thing on 13:42 - Sep 30 with 899 views | Bobbychase | We have done it three times, v Exeter (won 6-0 and got promoted), Huddersfield (won 2-0 and got promoted) and Norwich (drew 2-2 but had Broadhead been able to finish we would have been 3-0 up at half time). So firstly let us put a stake through the heart of this idea that it somehow affects the team's performance, there is zero evidence to back that up. Plus we know from the Burns/Morsy video that the players love it. Secondly, unless you have been down to one, I don't think you can appreciate how nice an event it is for people who AREN'T able to get a ticket for the match but can come down from other parts of the town and feel part of the event. Thirdly, if you don't like it don't go. Nobody is forcing you to. Stay in the pub. Fourthly - "it makes us look like idiots". Only in your mind. Liverpool, Celtic, Rangers and many other smaller European clubs do it before big matches, and the derby is always the biggest home game of any season. Fair play to Blue Action for ignoring the naysayers and organising it again. [Post edited 30 Sep 13:45]

Coach greeting on Sunday on 13:12 - Sep 30 by TRUE_BLUE123 | No they didn't. Lets not rewrite history on that game. The first half of that game was maybe the best we played all season. We absolutely battered them. Broadhead should've scored 4. I watched it back the other day. It was absolute one way traffic. We conceded 2 rubbish goals to stop us getting the win, and when I walked out that game I decided we were cursed and will probably never beat them. Was nothing to do with getting overhyped by a bus welcome. |
Agree with this, we started at 1000mph and absolutely battered them. They scored from an offside goal and then shocking defending. Game shouldve been over at half time. Worth noting most of these players havent played in our derby before, might not know what it means to us. A champions welcome Sunday might give them the extra few % they need. Also - the players did want it last time, I remember Wes and Chappers mentioning it on a video about 2 weeks before.
Coach greeting on Sunday on 14:03 - Sep 30 with 771 views | Guthrum | It's only seen as having done more harm than good because we didn't win. Rectify that and it will have been splendid. I doubt the welcome really made that much difference to the outcome of the game (including the deflection for Norwich's second).

We know the players like it. The Delia thing is entirely her fault and the fault of whoever advised her on the day. We know ITFC and the police suggested a different route but were ignored. That incident actually shows how well fans behave generally, as other clubs might have left her car needing a new tyres and windsceeen. The players like it, it's a big game and it helps get the atmosphere going. It has zero negative impact and nobody is forced to attend. I really cannot see what the issue is with it.

Exactly. There is ZERO evidence to suggest it has "backfired" as some claim. We played really, really well in that first half.

“Liverpool, Celtic, Rangers and many other smaller European clubs” I presume you’re referring to Liverpool, Celtic and Rangers as smaller European clubs than us. Am I reading that correctly, right?

Liverpool. Celtic and Rangers And then pretty much every other European club below them, including Lazio, Roma, Betis, Sevilla, Marseille, Lyon. Not sure where ITFC fits in there. But I do know we never lost at home...
