There's a lot going on at once with this season and team.

Firstly, welcome to the real championship especially the glory hunters who turned up just when success came back. It's the toughest league. Results like this happen all the time. Dreadful result but to see some treat it like the end of days really highlights how we've got infected with the armchair prem fan disease of perfomative outrage.

I always think how we got down to 8000 season ticket holders during the pandemic. There's a core presumably of about 14000/15000 based on end of Evans days that would always be here. A lot of the rest came because it became trendy and successful suddenly which is good. It's nice to see PR always full. But we've all been spoilt over the last few years and in a strange way might be good for these sort of nights to remind us.

We've had to negotiate the very difficult transition from relegation to title favourite with a huge amount of turnover. We know KM needs time to get his teams working and I think he's made a big point of how little time the group has had together for a reason. He's telling us a lot in the pressers.

KM isn't beyond reproach either. He's trying to do what he's done with rotation and using the squad. In the long run it will pay off but it's a dicey game at the moment. 7 changes tonight probably too much.

Money in football doesn't guarantee anything in terms of players. We've spent money on very good players. We had to really - the club has had to evolve and we needed to enter a different market. But you can't buy form or fit. There's no point in complaining about it. The club has done 5 years of change in 2 really. And with a season in the OL thrown in. It's a bit mad. I miss the 'original' KM side. But it was always going to end with the club's ambition.

We are the better footballing side in every game. But that's not enough alone. We have got to stop conceding goals from breaks where we've overcommitted going forward. We also need to get that belief and energy back. Corner on 80 minutes and no one ran to take it

I think the Morsy thing was a big blow. KM expected him to be here. Maybe the club should have offered the new contract. We miss that steady influence.

KM will get it right and I expect us to be more than okay. He will relish the job. We need to get behind him and support the team. We've had far worse periods than this. The club's medium term future is secured and we're in rude health. So it's probably time for us to realise that, be patient and stick with it. KM deserves that.

Yeah that's fair comment I think.

I think he's doing what he has always done - putting the long term ahead of short term. He has always rotated and tried to use the whole squad. It's just that before that's been on a foundation that is already there.

I fully expect him to be vindicated by end of season when players like Macateer, Chuba, Young, Azon etc have all made a significant contribution.

Really well worded and considered post.

Just feel that we are on the edge at the moment.

Part of me says that we keep ending up the wrong side of fine margins and it will come good, but theres a nagging doubt that theres a reason we are constantly ending up the wrong side and it could get worse.

Theres some really important matches between now and the next international break.

I have a feeling we will know which way we are going by then.

Don't be silly.

Recent history tells you that these players have been very good, they haven't become crap overnight.

Thank you.

Yeah totally agree that next few games are crucial. Saturday really important now. Really need a win.

I know what you mean about the fine margins thing. It really feels like we're not getting any luck especially with close chances not going in but the longer it goes on...

Should've had a pen in the last game, VAR probably would've ruled out another, ball out of play for the third tonight, palmer pings his calf on a regulation sprint. We're definitely on the wrong side of them at the minute.

A sensible post, we've had to grow very quickly of course but I can't help but think we're trying to grow even faster than we need to. Morsy and Chaplin at least should still be here. We've taken the spine out of the team and lost all the fight and will to win that made the previous side so successful. Not helped by O'Shea looking half the captain that Morsy was.

McKenna has to stop trying to manage the squad like poundshop Real Madrid. We don't yet have the platform to make so many changes between games. We've had spells of real dominance in the last two games yet haven't put the ball in the net, that's down to partnerships and patterns of play. It's going to take forever to get up to speed at this rate. Should have had at least 4 points from the last two games and we've got sweet fa. There's enough pressure from the bookie and pundit generated expectation levels without inviting further impatience.

Sounds like you’re getting ready to excuse McKenna and this team a 10th place finish this season, because it will ‘allow us to build for the season after.’

Make no mistake, failure to secure top 6 will be an utter failure with the resources available. I would also suggest that the huge reduction in parachute payments next year, means the next 8 months are incredibly important to this football club.

Dont disagree with a lot of your sentiments but making 7 changes was ridiculous and bordering on arrogant. We have a track recording of stinking the place out after wholesale changes so a lot of tonight falls at the managers door imho

That’s a very positive approach on a very bad situation, and I do admire you for that.

Going for relegation favourites (automatic promotion achieved), to parachute payments, promotion favourite (mid table mediocrity) can’t be spun positively anyway.

We chose to rebuild the squad, it wasn’t broken, that was our own doing, and as a collective we’ve made an absolute mess of it, now the squad looks unbelievably unbalanced.

As things stand, we look nowhere near able to get this group firing - talent alone is worthless, there is a certain mentality, unity and connection you need achieve success - we look seriously lacking in that department.

We won't finish 10th.

We'll finish top 6. It just depends where.

This is a new team. Can't write it off after effectively 5 games as KM points out.

Even parachute clubs are not guaranteed anything in this league.

It’s not 5 games, it’s 10 games, plus a pre season, the exact same amount of time as every other club preparing for this season.

We won’t finish in the play-offs, we are absolutely miles away from being at that level.

Nobody is guranteed anything in this league, but you would have to have seen some ‘green shoots’ for a really good season having built a £125m squad after 10 games.

I think that's fair sentiment. If there's an Achilles heel at KM, it's that he has always run us like a huge giant, like Real Madrid in terms of the approach at all levels. Which has done a lot of good but...

He changed a lot at Lincoln in early 2023 I remember and got a lot of criticism for it. Many examples. I think he'd argue that in the long term, it will win more points. Our strength has been the squad effort.

I think we are also really missing a like for like replacement for Azor.

That will get old, it's November soon and the transfer window is the same for other club as well. End of the day we have known we were down since, what Valentines day? Should be operating at better than 1.4 PPG at this level.

Far too intelligent and balanced view.
