| One for the board elders 08:46 - Oct 24 with 3369 views | itfc_bucks | What's the point anymore? Have woken up this morning and the world just seems to have gone to hell in a handcart. Yes it didn't happen overnight, but it's literally everything right now. Wars all over the world. Politics in the UK more obsessed with whether Prince Andrew did or didn't get up to anything with Epstein 25 years ago instead of actually dealing with important current matters, like the economy, the NHS, public sector generally. The rise of the batsht far right in the UK. Town couldn't win a fkin raffle. The weather is sht. Literally the only good news that I've seen in weeks is that our friend, who has stage 4 cancer diagnosis anyway, found anew lump and fortunately that's turned out to be benign, but literally everything just feels so goddamn futile at the moment. | |

I'm guessing Channel number 601 On Freeview Which is Red Button No1

Cheers. Not really sure how to access those, but I guess it must be on BBC iPlayer somewhere. Sounds nice!

Edward beat me to it! but you don't have to go to iPlayer to access it, which is great as I can only get that app on a separate firestick. Just key in channel 601 on your remote.

| One for the board elders on 13:13 - Oct 24 by Ryorry | You wrote “ Life is actually pretty good if you choose to make it so.” I hate glib platitudes like that. People who are homeless or chronically ill through no fault of their own, eg, don’t have a choice. |
Fair enough - my partner is chronically ill with conditions which will only get worse, she still says it and makes a choice to live the best she can.

Sorry to hear to hear of her chronic illnesses. Making the best of what you've got is also a big maxim of mine, but it's still completely different to what you originally wrote - "Life is actually pretty good if you choose to make it so" - which is a terrible generalisation, & particularly not true for those born with conditions which exclude them from choices that others have re education, employment, housing, social life etc. And that's just for people in the UK. Imagine being born into a war-torn country constantly at risk of bombing, famine etc.

also try a vitamin d supplement
| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

I guess that's proof that financial wealth doesn't necessarily make you happy.

*Very* much this. Most adults in the UK are deficient in D (view of a variety of qualified medics). People think of iron as the main energiser, but D3 (easiest form of D to assimilate) is absolutely crucial for it too. My energy & mood shot up dramatically when I started taking it as a supplement.

Who said anything about wealth? OP is basically free from starvation war and homelessness, and is free from many of the diseases that killed so many of their ancestors, and enjoys incredible personal freedoms being able to come and go as they please. OP has a better standard of living than basically everyone who came before them. This should I believe help OP overcome their ontological terrors and what seems to be a feeling of boredom and lack of purpose.

Yeah, you've cracked it. Suffering from depression or anxiety? Think yourself lucky that you're not living in Victorian times and those feelings will disappear.

"Just pull yourself together" apparently still a thing despite all the recent years of discussion & greater enlightenment on this forum.

I don't think you have taken the wording of the sixth and final paragraph of the OP on board, or the effect of that on one's state of mind.
