Left him completely free twice. If this was Greaves or O'Shea ....

Ref has been great. Letting game flow. 99% of refs would have blown for a foul in the build up to the third goal when the Cov player stumbled.

I really loved watching Woolfenden. Very easy on the eye and does some things very well. However, I now accept that Dara O'Shea is a better player. Good grief he's been bad tonight.

I think the issue is trying to get O'Shea to do the same things that Woolfenden was better at, particularly when we are in possession.

Woolfy was good with the ball for a side on the front foot

Defending has not really been his strength imo.

Different players with the ball

I saw a stat the other day. Oshea is top 3 in the league for completing long passes.

Wolfy in his time was excellent as shot pass completion.

Agreed. However, I've never seen a defender cut so many balls into the box out at the front post. ALWAYS seemed to be in the right place. That's not by chance.

If this was woolfy for us and as bad as you say, the exact same criticism would be levelled as it is at Greaves and Oshea.

Stop making things up.

Thought he did really well up until the second goal, but at fault for that and arguably the third. One of them days

You've missed the point...when it's O'Shea and Greaves there has been (from a few) a constant call for Woolfie to be playing (when still here) and that he should have played since leaving and was somehow hard done by. That is not made up at all. So no it wouldn't have been the same

Stop missing the point.

So.... a single performance, by a player who has barely played for a year and is not going to be sharp, is reason to ignore some obvious significant failings of others, and several years of consistency, and an impact on our side's ability to move and pass the ball through the phases?

Righto.

Much like Hladky as a keeper, Woolfy looks great at times, he is great in possession.

When controlling a game he is handy to have but he is capable of massive defensive lapses and has been roasted at times one on one

I do actually think aerially that Greaves, O'Shea and Kipre are very dominant and rarely seem to lose those battles, it's on the floor when caught on the break we are particularly weak

This was exactly the same when Wolfy played so it isn't a new problem and you'd hope it's rectifiable. My feeling at the moment is we are really poor in terms of workrate defensively off the ball

We press well and work hard to win the ball off the pitch but when in a defensive shape and looking to absorb pressure, the front 5 don't do enough to bust a gut and get back, block shots etc etc

Woolfy i would argue had a more disciplined side ahead of him in that regard and still we conceded a tonne of goals we often just scored more the other way

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!
