I effin' HATE the ITV EFL Championship programme... Why do they put zero effort into it? They just show exactly what I can find for myself on YouTube.
The likes of Jobi McAnuff and Sam Parkin may have zero insight to offer, but I would still vastly prefer that to the half-arsed highlights package they crap out. Give it back to 5 or Quest if you can't be arsed to do anything with it.
That is all. In other news, we're beginning to look a bit good, aren't we?
...but do signatures really work?

My pet hate with their offering is - why can’t they give even a one-line verbal heads up when switching from one game to another?
I’ll usually be prepping, cooking or making a cuppa until we come on, so won’t have eyes on the screen all the time - then look up only to find I’ve missed half our game because I thought they were still on the previous one

To be honest, on this and MOTD I fast forward through all the comments and punditry. I just want to watch the football.
But did you feel the same last season when MOTD, for example, had a segment where they actually discussed our team? Admittedly that was rare.
I feel that for Championship teams there is the demand for punditry and discussion, at least more so than PL teams because they get so much attention outside of MOTD (5Live, 606, Talksport etc).

I'm with you on this. I have no idea why ITV paid for the rights to something they clearly don't give a toss about, not sure it would be possible to put less effort in.
The quest coverage, with input from efl podcasts as well as ex pros, was actually pretty good.
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.
I haven't seen it but I assume they do the absolute bare minimum?
I saw League One/Two sides bemoaning that there was no highlights package during international break which is pretty staggering
There's surely some scope for some actual analysis and discussion of the leagues, I'm not expecting match of the day but it probably does leave a vacuum for the vlog/podcasters out there
SkySports seem to have a big build up before their 1230 kick offs now starting at 1100 which seems about the closest attempt to it, with a football focus kind of build up, looking across the leagues prior to the matches itself
Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

This is what gets me. It's just lazy. Like, really, really, lazy. In the digital age, we've probably all seen the exact same highlights on YouTube.
They have Hugh Woozencroft walking around a stadium for 30 secs at the beginning. Offers nothing. If you are lucky you may get another 5 second voice over from Hugh cuing up the next match, but more often than not they'll just roll straight into the next match (as per Ryorry's post above).
Honestly, bring back Colin Murray. A personable presenter who seemed to actually care.
I don't actually care if the punditry is good (I mean, obviously I would prefer it if it were), I just want something different than what I have already seen and is available at my, and everyone else's, fingertips. I can't imagine viewer numbers are great given that it is just recycled content, and I can't imagine that hosting B/C tier pundits is exactly in the 'Gary Linekar' salary bracket.
It is just so half-arsed. When Five and Quest can do it far, far better than ITV on a fraction of the budget, you have to ask yourself "why are we bothering with this?"
As you can probably tell, this bothers me far more than it really should!

Bring back Manish on BBC.
I might have paused to listen a couple of times, but they just talk in cliches and buzz words. Front foot, back foot, two halves, final third, in his locker, opened his body up(!), schoolboy error, awareness, genuine pace etc. I could go on, but it's early doors, and I need to get home and hosed!!!

I never watch it tbh and catch up with YouTube for highlights.
I've got it on record, will skip through it later, that's the beauty, to cut out all the crap and ads it'll take me about 20 minutes to watch all the goals.

Why show the teams walking out, shaking hands etc. Then the minutes silence, all well and good but is this a football highlight? Are you going to show it on every game? Just show the football, don’t really want to see the crowd clapping at the start.

Since the regional football highlights were scrapped ITV should never have been allowed near football let alone below that halcyon of crude sportwashing the over hyped the EPL.
But I guess it's like EPL in that there appears to be a never ending stream of customers willing to give money, in ITV case, advertisers. As long as the advertisers roll up with cash for a minimalist production, it's happy days for them.
I like Colin Murray as a presenter, although a Liverpool fan he seemed invested enough to know about life further down the pyramid.

Perhaps when Sky buy out ITV the quality will improve.
