To be fair John Wark started his first games as a centre back, unless my memory is screwed up so would have been covering Beattie or Hunter, tough acts to follow for a young guy coming through. [Post edited 13 Nov 12:48]

nope, both were exemplary in the champ, so no thought they were useless, maybe not good enough for the prem, that would be it. however form is temporary, so sensible decision buying them, given it was highly likely we would end up in the champ. It was noticeable that the "Town in 5" video for Swansea showed three occasions early in the game where McAteer put in decent enough crosses only for whoever was in the middle to not get on the end of them.
