Quite telling that our defensive players were very good, allowing us to still be in the game until the cavalry arrived. [Post edited 25 Nov 21:53]

Turning the ball over means losing it, you don't mean that ! I still miss Morsy.
| Azor Matusiwa. on 21:56 - Nov 25 with 1288 views | Nutkins_Return | Yes he was brilliant. Even when he made a mistake he made an unbelievable recovery tackle. Philogene and Egeli were excellent when they came on. After so many loses touches from Clarke, Nunez, Hirst etc you wonder if it's a sticky pitch and the Egeli comes on and has the ball on a string. Philogene much more in control as well. Akpom stretched it a bit as well and so pleased he got a goal! Nunez has a bit of an off night. I was thinking if he was Akpom first hour he would have got a lot of stick. Then he scores and comes alive and finished strong whilst still on. He keeps on going. | |

Don't think Hirst was great and hasn't been for a while. Seems a bit lost at the moment. SB

As a player I think he’s as good as last seasons Sami. But his influence on the team as a whole isn’t anywhere near that of Sami’s. He was just a tour-de-force, a colossus is driving the teams standards.

Another game for Hirst where the service into him was poor but he also did very little when he did have an opportunity. He's had some OTT criticism online and (more stupidly) at PR but he's looked off it all season for me.

We look really solid now, don't we. One thing noticeable is that Greaves seems to be playing more calmly and getting his positioning right. He's still making a lot of good long-legged interceptions (and the headers of course) but he's not getting caught wrong side, trying too hard to intercept, in the last couple of games he's played. He had a really good game tonight, a little under the radar.

Been better recently, but back to poor touches, not competing and getting knocked off the ball too easily again tonight. Not dreadful, but not enough. Feeling the pressure too much I think, and like others I'd like to see Akpom playing up there a bit more, with Hirst or Ivan coming off the bench.

I thought he was pretty decent first half tonight. Looked a bit more like the old Hirst. Created space. Used his strength to hold the ball up. Made some intelligent runs. Yes he lost the ball a couple of times and had the odd mis-control, but definitely some positive signs imho.
