| The nonsense of squad rotation 12:08 - Dec 3 with 2078 views | turtle2 | Back in teh 1981 season - arguably the best season in the clubs history we won the UEAFA Cup, semi-finalists in the FA Cup, narrowly missed winning the league - i think we played approaximately 70 games with a squad that utilised 15 players ? O'Callaghan, McCall, Sivel - Stockwel perhaps ? coming in for the 11 who played em all.... yes times have moved on but we need to be fielding our best team in every game - the bench at the start last night looked better than those on the pitch - we lose harmony and consistency with the constant rotation..... that makes up a large part of consistently winning as it did 23 / 24 when we had a stable core of players ? Last night - in parts was like watching an average sunday morning pub team and apart from maybe 4 or 5 key players i dont think we have a strong squad at all ? Macateer ? seriously - may as wlel play with 10 - the front is beyond bad and the team we last used in the championship was massively better ? if he sold those players to replace with players that would do a better job in a return to the prem in 2026 that would be understandable - but letting them go to replace them with dross seems like the biggest mistake ive seen an ITFC manager make in a long time - very sad to see us in the current state | | | | |

Leif is a phenomenal athlete though. There’s some logic in consistency, but the downside is that it would make the rest of the squad weaker and we become overly reliant on one or two players (our poor run in the middle of 23/24 coincided with Leif and Hirst being out). It’s clear to see what KM’s trying to achieve. If we could have a squad where players could rotate with little impact on performances we’d be in a very strong position. Arsenal for example are doing it to great effect, but it’s taken 3 or 4 years for them to get there.

We could do with signing more athletes tbh.

He's also the player who's played in McKenna's system the longest.

| The nonsense of squad rotation on 17:01 - Dec 4 with 216 views | FBI | From the Wiki article about that season: "November commenced with two draws, a goalless game at home against West Bromwich Albion and a six-goal match against Southampton. A shock 1–0 defeat against bottom club Brighton saw the end of Ipswich's unbeaten run of fourteen league games since the start of the season. Ipswich were without first-team regulars Paul Cooper, Thijssen, Alan Brazil and Kevin Beattie through injury, and Terry Butcher was suspended,[9] having been sent off in the Southampton match.[10] Burley succumbed to injury during the game; Robson remarked "I must admit, our resources are being stretched to the absolute limit"." I was there for every home game that season and it was a wonder we could keep 11 Fit players on the field at some points. | |

| The nonsense of squad rotation on 12:25 - Dec 3 by J2BLUE | It's almost like sports science has evolved a little bit isn't it? My dad worked with a former player after he retired and he said he used to have "a cup of tea and a fag" at half time. Perhaps one of the coaches should offer around a pack of Marlboro Lights? |
Which brand of cigs would each player favour? I feel like Jens would smoke those thin continental ones. Davidoff. Woodbines for Leif and Dara with those WW1 taches. Matusiwa 20 Sovereign man. Menthol for Sindre so his mum doesn't find out.

Ashton and McKenna talked enough about the physical demands, but we are still lightweight aren’t we.

Hunter was doubtful for the Cup Final, and, apparently couldn’t sleep the night before, and spent the night smoking constantly.
