If I define 'football' as 'the game played on a grass pitch about 110 yards by 70 yards over two 45-minute halves', then I love it. Can't get enough of it. All the other stuff that comes with it, including travesties like last night (so I've heard - didn't watch it), absolutely agree, totally fed up with it.

For me it's not just the World Cup but the crazy way that the game has evolved financially. The pinnacle in reality is for us to get promoted and scrape survival for a few years. Perhaps we would all be better off with a circus of a European super league that we could all ignore and create a more level playing field for the rest of us.
Having said that, if we don't get a result today it will still ruin my weekend. Uppa Towen, COYB.

Love a World Cup. It’s not all about watching Brazil.
While loving Ipswich's success and Norwich's struggles in recent seasons, the rest of football is a turn off. The Premier League is of little interest, and I don't even look at European results. I watch England matches but am not looking forward to the World Cup and probably won't watch most of it, whereas I used to take time off work to see as many matches as I can. The game is being ruined by money, expanding competitions, complexity, advertising and VAR. The World Cup draw was a new low with FIFA awarding Trump a medal.
I very much want Ipswich to get promoted this season, of course, but also would not look forward to another season in that league. On the other hand I know we cannot afford to lose parachute money so need to get promoted this season or next.

Just looked at our route through the knock out stage if we top our group.
Some serious air miles. Play a team that finishes third in one of four groups in Atlanta, then off to Mexico followed by Boston, Dallas and final in Miami.
