I'm no monarchist, but I find that comment rather insensitive. I don't think there's any need for that. Cancer is a mother f**ker, it has no regard for your social standing or your wealth. It'll still chew you up and spit you out, if it wants, no matter what you throw at it. Quite often it rears its ugly head again once it has its hooks in you, too. I imagine it's f**king scary for anyone on this planet, regardless.

jeez. that's really pure hate.
| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

I know that all too well, having lost an incredibly close family member to the disease about two months ago. Unlike Charles, she was left at the mercy of the NHS, and delays in her initial care undoubtedly led to her passing. Whilst I wish absolutely no ill towards Charles, using him in this sort of context is an absolute kick in the teeth to those who've had to experience the reality of cancer when you're not a multi-millionaire.

Cancer is everything you say it is and some. However be in no doubt about the cynicism of the PR machine that works constantly to polish the turd that is hereditary royalty

Sorry to hear that pal, it's an all too common story though. 3 of my grandparents went that way, and my stepdad was taken 2 years ago at the end of November just past. For him, we thought we had got through it after it was found in his liver and removed, but a few months later and it had consumed him. The last visit I made, he was unrecognisable, and gave me a hug that I'll never forget. It was a real life-force moment (if you understand what I mean?), like that first hug between you and the person you've always wanted to get close to, that kind of thing, when you can feel the electric, the emotion. He held me tighter than he ever had, he knew the end was near and was scared. I miss him. Anyway, I'm probably oversharing. My point, though, is that, he could sit up in his ivory tower and ignore that suffering that is going on below him. Concentrate on keeping himself well, but he is choosing to try to raise awareness. Your experience (and most other people's) is that time is short when it appears, so the absolute best chance anyone has to beat it, is to catch it as early as possible, to give the NHS more time to deal with it. He has a large audience, regardless of anyone's feelings on the monarchy, and it's being used for good here. [Post edited 12 Dec 15:25]

What a disgusting post. I've just returned from the funeral of a dear friend who passed away from pancreatic cancer just five months after her diagnosis. Cancer doesn't distinguish between race, colour. class or wealth. [Post edited 12 Dec 19:57]

I get that many on here are anti-monachist but that seems unnecessary and a touch unpleasant.
