| One Small [Tactical] Change 12:33 - Dec 15 with 1565 views | Chris_ITFC | If you could impose one, small, tactical change on McKenna, what would it be? He has to impose it from next Saturday onwards - but it has to be tangible and constructive. It can’t just be a generic ‘play faster’ or too imposing, like ‘play this exact XI’. And explain why - maybe you’re desperate for Cam Humphreys to start, but is that because you think he can unlock the #10 position or because you want some homegrown talent to love in this team? The power is yours! | |

He wasn't that good | |

I thought he was out injured for a few weeks. If he's not then stick egeli uptop instead :)

He really was. But I covered that by saying he'd have one duty Clarke playing on the right but running and playing like he wants to come inside all game, didn't work.

That's a valid point. The one at Carrow Road appeared to be almost completely unsucked and it completely changed the course of the game, including a saved Southampton penalty. If you just wanted to give them some stick, it makes sense to suck it to oblivion.

| One Small [Tactical] Change on 14:22 - Dec 15 by Metal_Hacker | My main small tactical change would be very simple Mix the formations up a little depending on opposition a little more and be less predictable and easy to play against I'm not naive enough not to see the odd tweak but I mean perhaps a formation change for the first 15-20 mins of a game where perhaps necessary rather than the obvious Leif inverted or not inverted etc [Post edited 15 Dec 14:24]

I do often think, if us dullard simpletons know how to stop this Ipswich team from working, it can’t be that hard for opposition analysts / managers to come up with a plan of how to defend against us.

I just can't figure out why McKenna didn't go with McAteer on Saturday, unless he had a knock or was recovering from illness. He surely would've been fired up v his former club, is fairly solid/hardworking if nothing else... and then at least you have a fresh Clarke to come on later.

You've got to imagine he's carrying something, Not really been used since that blackburn game, either a knock or KM has just felt he hasn't done enough.. for safety lets go for the former lol

I kinda feel that the things that we seem to change are what we do off the ball rather than what we do on it. I mentioned on saturday, we seemed to be playing with a front 2 press, which i hadn't noticed before. But I can't say you really notice anything different from us with the ball.

| One Small [Tactical] Change on 12:36 - Dec 15 by The_Flashing_Smile | I'd start Walton on the right wing. We all know the power of the element of surprise, and what could be more surprising than that? |
Why move him from his advanced central midfield position?

I agree with this One very simple change that can be made - especially as Nunez is in the team is to switch to 433 This way the wingers say Philogene and Egeli can stay higher and hopefully we have more control in midfield. Currently when we press it's Hirst and Nunez up against their defence, this small change would leave the 2 wingers in attack with Hirst

I'm warming to this, and while the usual response in the past (mine included) is that KMc aims to develop a team to play the way he wants it to (which he certainly has done successfully before) no-one, absolutely no-one, should be completely fixed in their approach to anything. KMc knows best, but we ought to be seeing a little more progress soon. We could bring a bit of a twist to 4-4-3 with Leif still doing his raids either inside or outside of Philogene - in fact there might be a bit more scope to use that tactic, particularly if the left and central midfielders pull apart to make space for Leif. I'm liking it as an experiment against a weaker team, perhaps Sheffield, Saturday - who are even weaker than Sheffield Wednesday.

Was going to say similar. I think it would work wonders in our squad. Plan B being to take off one of the midfielders and bring on Szmods, Akpom or Azon as a second striker in a 4-4-1-1 type setup. Which would require grafters on the wings you could definitely find a place for Mcateer in the right and maybe ask Leif to go a bit conservative on the other side behind Jaden, Clarke, or even Egeli looking to get to the byline and put crosses in. We all know that he will play 4-2-3-1 until the day he either gets poached by a bigger club or he gets the boot, however. [Post edited 15 Dec 18:14]

| One Small [Tactical] Change on 18:01 - Dec 15 with 225 views | Dubtractor | This is more a modern football thing than specifically about us, but it does definitely apply to us. I'd love to see us be more inclined to get the ball into the box when we get the ball out to the wings in a promising position. Or see the winger just beat the full back to the byline and get a cross in, like Walle Egeli did for the first goal against QPR, rather than the relentless patterns of passing back out and 'recycling' the ball. I know that there will be tonnes of statistics behind why the current approach is taken, but just occasionally try chucking a bit of the unexpected into the mix please. | |

| One Small [Tactical] Change on 18:02 - Dec 15 with 222 views | MK1 | 3 in Midfield. 4-3-3. Been saying it since the beginning of last season. We are to easy to get through in the middle. At the moment I would play Taylor, Mat & Cajuste, but I would be buying 2 midfielders in January. [Post edited 15 Dec 18:14]
