I know plenty didn’t want him here and even just a few weeks ago some wanted him out of the door. ‘Cut our losses’ was one dismal expert’s take on him. Watching him yesterday - what a terrific, exciting player he is.

At times he’s totally unplayable. Give him any space at all and he’ll tear you a new one. He was very unlucky not to score that over the head attempt to add to his personal goal of the season competition.

I’ve no idea what his transfer fee was, but if we don’t go up there will be plenty of Premier League clubs wanting his services.

Jack Clarke isn’t too shabby a player either.

Indeed. “He flatters to deceive”, etc….

Pure quality.

Wasn't the cut our losses about clarke rather than philogene?

Phillys a frustrating player but don't think he's had many against him this season

It was about both of them, if memory serves me right.

The boy is absolute class and some of the snap judgments – a proportion of which came from a rather questionable place I must say – were thoroughly embarrassing for those who made them.

On Clarke I will hold my hands up as I couldn't really see the fit but both parties are making it work.

Him and Clarke over 90 minutes for the opposing right side must be a mare,
To much class at this level if one dosent deliver the other one will,

Clarke has the ability to let the ball do the work. He’ll let it run and go either way around his marker and like JP if you are left one on one with him, your day isn’t going to improve.

I’ve not seen it back yet, but for his goal I don’t think the defender had any idea where Clarke was which, along with tiredness, was why he made such a dogs dinner of it.

I’m not sure that he’s Premier League quality tbh. We saw last season that there’s a chasm between the two divisions. I think he’s too lightweight. Top Championship player though

Dogs dinner correct,
The defender seemed in a pickle done what he had to do get between Clarke and the ball then did nothing,
I suspect he needed more from his goalie who did nothing,
Good for Clarke for not giving it up,
Last year cajuste was probably my fav player this year Clarke's up there in his cameo appearances a lot better in a town shirt than he was a year ago,

No one is Premier League quality until they get a chance to be.
He's played in the Champions League for Villa, so Emery thought him good enough for that.

A few weeks ago? I would have thought any doubts about Jaden's ability were cut short after the Sheffield United game.

He had several against him earlier in the season.

Those questionable places often start with 'blue'... in my experience, and are anything but.

The left wing role is the only position where if we went up I'd be content sticking with who we've got there. Everywhere else needs either improvement or a back up. Philogene and Clarke I'd be content to give the season to. Philogenes ability to score from outside the box will be crucial next season, Villa been demonstrating all season it's importance with so many teams in the Prem going low block every game.

Good shout. Thijssen was the best I’ve seen for this club (different type of player, of course). Clive Woods’ control was good too.

As for JP playing in the Premier League, I can see him playing at that level. His all round game has improved.

Your first two sentences are absolute bobbins.

So you'd be happy with going in with:
St: Hirst with Azon as back up
AM: Nunez with Smodzics as backup
RW: Egeli with McAteer as back up
LCM: Cajuste with Taylor as back up
RCM: Matisuwa with no back up
LB: Davis with no back up
LCB: Kipre with Greaves as back up
RCB: O'Shea with no back up
RB: Furlong with Young/Johnson as back up
GK: Walton with Palmer as back up

If we want to stay up, all of those positions need an upgrade on either the first choice or the backup. LW is the only one we're I'd be content to stick with the two we have at present.

No way...unless you're about 15 years old. The two Dutch men had the ball attached to their boots by an elastic band. Colin Viljoen, superb ball retention and passing. Gio...fantastic. Even Pablo was better than Jaden.
