No I don’t believe he did but I think at some point he also picked up an injury didn’t he ?

Personally I would have Harry Clarke in the team ahead of Furlong, who offers very little attacking threat. He slows play down by constantly turning back and playing the safe ball to O'Shea, whereas Harry would constantly be looking to play in Burns or Chaplin.

Furlong is *miles* better as a defender though, and I do love Harry.
| Sheffield Star on 18:45 - Dec 23 with 1051 views | EddyJ | Harry Clarke is far superior in attack to Furlong. Good passing. Direct running on and off the ball. His defending, particularly his positional sense, is worse. Then there is his injury record. This is going to hold him back from ever being a top player. Despite not being a massive fan of Furlong, I don't think Clarke is the answer. We need a clear out at right back in the next two transfer windows. Bring in a top right back, keep Furlong as a reserve and move on Clarke, Johnson and Young. | | | |

McKenna: No Chance Jack Clarke Leaves in January 23rd Dec 2025 15:03Town boss Kieran McKenna says there’s “no chance” forward Jack Clarke will be leaving the club in January, a report earlier today having linked Sheffield United with the 25-year-old. 14

Young can cover both RB & LB for us this season. Look for new RB when we know what league we are in next season.

....what the "journo definition" of exclusive actually is. You see it everywhere, but particularly in sport/football, yet the same story is always carried by pretty much every outlet. You're a grizzled old hack Phil, what's the story? Now's your chance to give me an exclusive.

....his positional sense is appalling. Spends most of the match watching the ball sail over his head. I'd have Furlong over him every day and twice on Sundays.

Furlongs better, Clarke's positioning and checking a man is dreadful, Also I see a slight change in furlong he's now getting further forward than he was,

Well, it's supposed to be the first to report it, but people often claim it if they've had information themselves on a story even if it's been reported elsewhere. Bit lame, to be honest. Especially in this instance as the reporter obviously made a cock-up by reporting Jack Clarke when it's Harry they're after.

Clarke's "questionable" positioning was due to the way our double promotion winning side was set up to play. Clarke was encouraged to rampage down the right whilst also tucking in as a third central defender when we were defending. Furlong is a bog standard right back with limited attacking skills. It's totally changed the way we play.

We haven't really played with an attacking right back since promotion so it's not a new thing At times we could do with Clarke's squashbuckling runs though

Anyone else misread what Bloots just called Phil? No? Just me then?

Or McKenna has decided that building defensive solidity and looking at hitting teams more on the break is a better option if we go up. He's also joint 2nd for assists alongside Leif and Philogene.
