Holding onto the ball last night, baiting the press.
Ironically, it was the Cov fans getting arsey about it, rather than our own. I thought it played a big part in our success in the first half, creating space for Taylor and Matusiwa. It really did feel like we had an extra man on the ball.
“They had a lot of rotation, we know how they want to play and they take their time on the ball and I think we were sometimes getting coerced into trying to press because the fans wanted us to press and [we were therefore] opening up spaces between us,” he continued.

Blaming the fans won't go down well.
No - but you have it right there from the (fat) horse’s mouth that it WORKS.
Probably a quite an underrated come back story really. Never got the shirt back after Sunderland away, two keepers signed since. Was convinced when he came on for 2 minutes against Huddersfield that was a nice farewell for him after his league 1 campaign.
I don't think he is PL level tbh but a really good spell he is having since the Palmer injury. Commanding his area as well. Very much his shirt and will be a Championship starter somewhere for years to come I should imagine.
Thick as pig sh!t this fan base. Full of absolute twonks.
Not sure it’s any worse than anyone else’s fanbase tbf, and probably a lot better than some (West Ham cough). Imagine hounding out a European cup (of sorts) winning manager after 40 trophyless years because he doesn’t play ‘the right way’.
I don't know, a load of our fans got really angsty about Walton last night. There was maybe one sloppy pass out to Kipre but he was really good.
I do wonder sometimes how much some of our fans have watched of us over the last four years.
I swear, that there are people here that were far happier applauding us to a gutless relegation under The Fraud than they are now, watching a very good team that hasn't 100% clicked compete from promotion under a highly competent manager.
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Important to remember:
50% thick as sh*t. 60% know fk all about football.
They only reflect the general population, unfortunately.
I was hoping Walton was going to wait it out longer and see how long it would take before anyone pressed him. It was hilarious watching their forward on the left waving on their other one, who was trying to work out how to press Walton and Kipre at the same time. It was all very Chuckle Brothers-esque.

I feel more comfortable with Walton dealing with all the long throws we seem to be facing at the moment.

Lampard has always seemed like a decent, honest guy & these comments, like most of what he said about the game, were spot on. No, I don't want him as Town manager though.

Seems like a bit of a sore loser, but he is at least an intelligent guy which is probably why he’s succeeded in management and Rooney and Gerrard have not.
Wasn’t he linked with us back when we appointed KM?

He was interviewed prior to Paul Hurst's appointment.

He was interviewed for it when Mick left. He met with Evans twice but Lambert wanted a bigger transfer budget. Def info.
Credit to him, he’s obviously worked extremely hard with the ball at his feet and has been excellent since he came back in.
He was never, ever as bad as some people seemed to make out. It was as though in some people's minds, the longer he was out (through no fault of his own), the worse he became. Thoroughly bizarre.
We pushed really hard to bring him to the club from Brighton and despite him having already had a full season at Blackburn, he was labelled a L1 keeper.
It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

They'll be the same people yelling 'helpful instructions' from their wealth of coaching experience at their kids/ grandkids in the park on a saturday or sunday morning. The coach will have spent weeks teaching them to look after the ball and dad'll spook them with a bellow of 'get rid of it' as soon as the ball comes near. They'll then wonder why Jonny or Sally never seems to progress like the other kids.

I need to have a rethink. While I wouldn't have welcomed Lampard as an appointment (especially as he would have come recommended by Evans's football adviser, dear old Uncle Harry) no way could he have damaged Town as much as Paul Hurst did.

I'm with you on that, he's not a spectacular keeper but he's certainly a pretty solid Championship option. I don't think there's much to choose between him and Palmer tbh, they're both at a good age and pretty decent attributes across the board. Walton's OK with his feet, decent on aerial balls, good size frame, he's shown his shot stopping abilities as well and crucially has been really consistent so far. Muric's highs were higher but clearly had too many lows, you don't want that in your keeper.
I think its a position we'll look to upgrade if we do go up, but that's a future consideration. For now they're absolutely fine, good teams are built on having those reliable 7/10 players in there like Walton, Furlong, probably Taylor too. We've got more than enough quality and flair players, I think Walton brings a level of calm and consistency to things that's very healthy in a keeper.
