| Cajuste yesterday 09:21 - Jan 2 with 3004 views | TresBonne | Not seen much discourse around how good Jens was yesterday. He was my MOTM personally, particularly in the first half, there were times he looked like he was playing in a dads v kids game. Thought most of our attacks went through him and great work to win the ball back for Jaden’s goal. | | | | |
| Cajuste yesterday on 12:44 - Jan 2 with 476 views | MathieandMarshall | Rolls Royce of a player when he's on it. For me personally, I want to see a bit more from him on a consistent basis. He has the ability to control games at this level and is the player we should be looking to play through more often than not. I don't see Jens demanding the ball off the back 4 as much as I'd like. Seems to be cruising in second gear currently.. | | | |

| Cajuste yesterday on 12:42 - Jan 2 by Libero | Appreciate the differences in style can be quite jarring by the eye-test. I do find the glazing of Taylor interesting though, I'm not even sure he's particularly good off the ball, if I had to praise strengths of Taylor's it would potentially be his shooting ability from around 20 yards out? Other than that, he's a player I struggle with- not a defensive midfielder, not an attacking midfielder, technically not particularly proficient - best that can be expected from him is to do an average job in whatever role he's selected and be an occasional box crasher and pop up with a goal or two! TOTALLY agree that another player is needed in that midfield berth. |
I'm not glazing Taylor or pretending he's amazing - he's not. He's a probably about a low/mid level Championship midfielder and that's fine for us as a player who plays every now and then. However, with Taylor you can guarantee he'll be putting in a shift against the ball and pressing with intensity, which for me gives him a higher floor than Cajuste, hence calling Taylor reliable (not good) off the ball.

Apologies, I think I'm communicating poorly - I was talking broadly about the glazing of Taylor, not intending to accuse you of doing such!

| Cajuste yesterday on 11:56 - Jan 2 by LankHenners | He's unfortunately found himself in a position where a lot of people only want to talk about him to slag him off so will just ignore the game he had yesterday. In truth it was very easy for him and Matusiwa paired up against Oxford's midfield, which shouldn't be a surprise really given the difference in pedigree. He was very good though, and did a lot of the things the detractors claim he never does. Still looks like he's playing with about 75% fitness but interesting to hear him admit post-match that it's taken him longer than he thought it would to get to grips with the division. Hopefully he's turned a bit of a corner and we can see more of what everyone knows he's capable of going forwards. |
Not just the physicality but the quality as well.

| Cajuste yesterday on 13:09 - Jan 2 with 416 views | rickw | He was my MOTM too and I think it shows he should always start against a team we expect to play a 10 man defence - his quality can make the difference and his defensive deficiencies will be less exposed | |

He divides opinion tbf. For every person who says he's been poor there's someone else who has said that he would be a cheat code for this division. The truth, as is often the case, is somewhere in the middle

| Cajuste yesterday on 12:19 - Jan 2 by Abracadobra | Spot on assessment for me. He hasn't been up to it all season for me, but the first period of the game he was good for sure as you mention. No idea why some are trying to defend Cajuste's part in their goal, it was his miscontrol and therefore his mistake. What I haven't seen mentioned here is his sloppy passing, one moment in particular at the start of the second half where he has a relatively simple ball to Philogene to release him 1v1 and overhits it. How many times does he make the wrong decision/execution in the final third that undoes either his or someone else's good play prior. This is in stark contrast to a Nunez who has been outstanding at making good contributions in those big moments. For me, his on the ball contribution doesn't make up for his lack of off the ball intensity, I think Taylor deserves the shirt who's certainly not outstanding at Championship level, but he's reliable off the ball and can add an occasional bit of quality on it. Cajuste's best use is breaking opposition lines by beating them on the turn, but even this isn't particularly reliable and has led to big opportunities for the opposition this season IMO |
Glad I’m not the only one. Thought I’d seen a different game reading the OP. It may be that I’m overly harsh on him because of how good he can be (& should be) at this level. Decent opening 20-30minutes until he gives the ball away cheaply for their goal and then struggles to make any meaningful impact on the game. Great player in the middle third but I’ve been disappointed with his contribution at both ends this season.

| Cajuste yesterday on 10:42 - Jan 2 by Simonds92 | He was very very good for about half an hour, which is much better than his usual 5 minutes per half. He then made a big mistake which we conceded from and he went on to be non-existent until he was substituted. Taylor was poor when he came on too. [Post edited 2 Jan 10:44]

It's my key issue with Cajuste he struggles to be his best self for 90 mins and can seem to go properly missing. When he's good he's sublime but...
| Cajuste yesterday on 15:06 - Jan 2 with 261 views | Mullet | First thing I said on here after the game. Does seem he’s a player that people have it in for and want to diminish whatever he does, but I think most people appreciated his quality yesterday. | |

Nuñez too looked as though he was getting loads of space and pulling strings. He should have had 2-3 assists yesterday if others hadn’t squandered the chances.
