Always followed by Lampard Grumble. Currently whinging about not getting Pens in the last few games and still banging on about Hirst not getting a red card.

That’s what Lampard would look like if he went on the Wayne Rooney ‘all you can eat’ diet.

3 defeats doesn't sound as bad when you say 2 were to the greatest football team in the world!

Getting to 51 points (or whatever it was) after 23 games couldn’t have been a fluke, so I expect them to come through this patch. But who knows. Their defence looked very slow yesterday and they were very poor against us, so maybe the wheels won’t go back on. I wouldn’t be surprised if we catch them.

I wouldn't call it a fluke, but I do think they simply caught a lot of teams off-guard early in the season. In the second half of the season, all teams will line up differently and adopt different tactics. Cov fans are concerned Lampard doesn't have a Plan B and they'll continue shipping sloppy goals like they did against Brum.

I'm quietly confident we'll be almost level on points with them by early Feb.

I wouldn't get too excited just yet. We only won 1 in 9 from mid Dec to mid Feb last time around in the championship!

With luck, our blip was the start of the season. So far, from mid-Dec we’ve won 3 and drawn 1, so already way ahead of last time around …

I meant more that we had a blip around Xmas like coventry currently are, and then managed to turn it around. So probably best not to get too excited about their dip in form just yet

Yeah, I think they fell upon a system that worked like a dream for the first 10-15 games. A little like us in 23/24, no-one gave them respect and allowed them the space to destroy teams with their gung-ho approach.

They then shat the bed when they realised that the title is within their grasp. This, coupled with injuries/suspensions to a thin squad, and it's not a surprise to see a regression to the mean.

Hardly anyone expected Cov to be romping to the title. A slip into 3rd/4th feels inevitable for them over the medium term.

Bad results happen, it’s the Championship - but their drop-off in goal scoring is what makes me most optimistic. They were toothless against us.

Which, to be fair, is exactly what other teams were saying about us a couple of years ago. 1 win in 9. Been found out. Will revert to mid-table form and might only just make the playoffs.

We all know how that story panned out. If they make a couple of astute signings in January then I think there is a good chance they will still be in the autos mix right to the end of the season.

Completely agree. Almost all teams have a blip.

It seems much more likely than not that this is "just" a blip, rather than a sign that the first half of their season will be wildly different to the second half.

They've been unlucky over this spell too. Not least in meeting us when we were at our best.

From what I’ve seen, their tactics seem to consist of running about a lot and trying to get thrown ins. I think they’ve been found out.
