An Arsenal page on Facebook (I know) with 654k followers is saying we’ve made an approach to take him on loan. Bournemouth and several other sides also in contact.

He'd probably be the best player in the league if we could some how wrangle this... hard part is convincing them he'd develop better here vs. leagues with better opposition.

I imagine we'd be willing to pay a pretty good price for him vs. other suitors though so who knows

Sure he's on the list but if he's on our list, he's on PL teams lists and he's much more likely to go there.

I wonder if we are being too ambitious if true.

Nwaneri/B. Johnson the sort of signings we could’ve maybe made had we survived in the PL last season or even next season if we were to go up.

An ITFC fan in the comments on the post in question said he wouldn’t get into our team…

Don’t disagree.

But a kid who’s fed up of not playing might be tempted by guaranteed starts (with an obvious return to Arsenal in the summer).

Having said all that, I agree it’s highly unlikely. There will be clubs all across Europe in for him.

If true its work a try no harm in trying, besides is he not mainly a no10 who was forced out wide for arsenal cause of need at u21 level think he was mainly a no10 which would allow SS to go nunez to go back to CM, and akpm to play as backup ST.

I don’t there is any chance of this happening but he can also play no 10 which is a position you would think we might look at.

The only Muff in Town.

But if Arsenal look at our system and patterns of play, as well as the progress made by Omari and Jayden, we may be seen as a very good option to develop a young player as well as toughen him up in a physically demanding league. Here's hoping anyway.

I cannot see any hope in this guy signing. There would be plenty of takers in the Premier League.

He is well down the pecking order at Arsenal now.

Would be the perfect player for that 10 role but doubt it's true unfortunately

Arsenal season ticket holder friend reckons he's not getting much game time this season as his big weaknesses are his pressing and off the ball work. We know KMcK is excellent at developing those, but does mean we'd be getting a player that would be unlikely to hit the ground running for how we play. Bags of talent on the ball though, which would obviously compensate for that; as others have said though, I think there will be plenty of competition which would make it a difficult signing to complete.

Admire the optimism but he's so far above championship level and he'll know it.

He sounds very much like Omari when he first arrived, but with only four month's of the season remaining, will his good work on the ball make up for his lack of ability off it? Would he be able to get up to speed quickly enough to make a difference? Would he/Arsenal be happy to see him played as a "finisher" for the last 15/20 minutes of games while he gets up to speed off the ball?

An Arsenal fan’s thoughts on Nwaneri.

“Nwaneri just needs game time. He's only 18, but he won't play on the wing, since Saka, Madueke and even Nelli will play more on the right wing.
I can see Ethan play in the Ødegaard role, but he needs more body, needs to work more, win more duels and become more allround. When he plays now, I always think he is just a kid who plays in a central role. He likes to dribble, shoot and pass, but he doesn't like to duel or run a lot... He needs more physique and more press skills from Ode to even be considered a starter in the BPL @ Arsenal “

In my opinion if Ashton has been guilty of anything since he came it, its been aiming too high. I love ambition, but it feels to me that we've chased players that have been too good for us for too long and then been scrabbling for stop gaps when the #1 target didn't get over the line.
I love ambition - but think it may have cost us a couple of times.

I'd absolutely agree with this. I'd be interested to know the process our recruitment team go through when identifying potential signings, it's very hit & miss.

I can't see there being too much truth in this rumour though, if he did want to leave, he'd have the pick of a number of PL and European teams to choose from. If by some miracle we did manage to secure him, I would hope that it didn't come at the cost of a position that we really do need to sign for, a striker or back up for Azor. Another slight number 10 doesn't really seem to be a pressing need right now.
