One of the best examples you'll find of a player coming good after a slow start.

He looked like a player shorn of all confidence when he joined us, even at the start of this season he looked a bit lost, then that hatrick against the blunts changed everything. Suddenly he had his tail up.

Obviously the ability was always there, but that move to Villa was a disaster for his career in the short term.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Absolutely. Clearly a huge confidence player. Seems a quiet and nice guy who just wants to get on with his football.

Great example of why being patient with players is important.

The way he's been grabbing some match day headlines this season, I wouldn't be surprised if one or two premier league clubs are considering a bid in this window.
I certainly hope not.

I spoke with someone close to Villa when he joined us and they said, just as you've mentioned, that his confidence was absolutely shot there. Just got off to a very tentative start and for whatever reason the crowd were on him, basically. He took it very much to heart. We inherited a player who needed building back up a bit, which I think a lot of people didn't realise, and what dividends we're reaping now.

Think shot wise his volleys have been woeful this season. Need a bit of work on them. Times them badly imo.

But the power on them are incredible.

Posing the question again - is Jaden the most gifted player since Dyer? on 22:08 - Jan 11 with 1347 viewsunstableblue

Jaden is incredibly technically gifted on the ball - trapping, close control, vision, shooting (amazing shooting), tricks and jinks.
I’m not talking about pace, or strength, long range passing or tackling (albeit his ability to hold the ball and challenge is much improved, he did some cross field tracking on Saturday that was great).

Our group were discussing post match which player have Town had over recent times with better skills and talent. Consensus is that he is better than Omari.

Who else have we had since Dyer that matches or exceeds Jaden?

It's just one example of how PSR is damaging the game for players. That move to Villa wouldn't have happened without the buyback clause, as Philogene wanted to join us at that time, but was contractually obliged to re-sign for them. They wouldn't have been anywhere near that transfer if it wasn't for the prospect of making a few pounds for the "PSR books".

Thankfully, it seems the lad has put it behind him and is moving his career on once again. Villa did the same with Archer, and it seems to have had a similar effect on his career too.

I understand the need for a framework that all clubs should adhere to. PSR is just not "it" though, is it?

Was talking about this before the game. I said he hadn't yet got the tracking back and hustling up to Hutchinson's standard, but on Saturday I felt like he really took it up a notch. Fair play to him.

The way he effortlessly trapped a diagonal ball during one of our attacks in the second half was sumptuous.

that left side of Jaden, Johnson, Taylor, and Greaves was a great showing of tenacity and work rate I thought - especially in the first half

Jacks almost there

I feel with Philogene, you kinda get an 8/10 in each game he plays where as with clarke, you're never quite sure what version of him is going out onto the pitch, sometimes he's a 9/10 then on others he's a 5 and gives the ball away, falls into players and becomes a liability ( recent sub appearence in the 10, the game where he started right another example.

Of the two, Jayden I feel is more consistent.

I’ve said it on here before and been ridiculed by some, I don’t think we’ve ever had a player with a better first touch than Jaden. There are not many premier league players who can control a ball as well as he consistently does. Either foot, knees, chest, head, wherever it comes at him he has it under control instantly.

I've not seen an 8/10 away from home this season from Philogene.

Copford, as for post below.. we were struggling Saturday to think of a more naturally gifted footballer than Town have had?

I think he has better control, dinks and shooting skills than Omari - but obviously Omari has other strengths. But I think Jaden is a better technically skilled footballer.

Who else have we had? Do we got all the way back to Dyer?

Darren Currie came to mind, but he was so pedestrian.
Reuser was technically gifted. Jaden another level.

Philogene and Clarke are more technically gifted, better players than Hutchinson. They are the best I’ve seen here since Kieron Dyer. The closest is David McGoldrick for me. One of the few during Mick’s time worth the entrance money - apart from Jonathan Douglas of course…….

Ok, you have to take the opposition into account to an extent, but there are times when Jaden and Jack have looked utterly unplayable.

Yes, McGoldrick had some really good close control and tricks, and was really gifted. Slow of course. But I do think he's some way off Jaden.

I agree Jack Clarke is a really gifted player, just brilliant moments of skill and his pass execution is sometimes excellent, good brain and vision as well.

But Jaden from an individual skill basis is well ahead for me.

I'm trying to think of any loanees we've had?

I suppose Giovani Dos Santos probably should be in the conversation.
