Hackney is a 6, whereas Mehmeti is a 10 or a winger. They don’t play in the same position.
Mehmeti is apparently out of contract in the summer, so Bristol City may be looking to get some money for him, rather than losing on a free. Probably makes him cheaper, than his actual worth.

I know we have loads of 10s but he's been brilliant every time ive seen him in the past 3 years. He also suits the role as a link up player who plays as a 10 rather than a second striker. We currently only have one of those in Nunez. I'd be disappointed if we weren't interested too. | | | |

Albeit we have two other 10's who don't play that 10 role very well
We could do with an alternative to Nunez, it would take the work load off him and free him up Nunez to play deeper in some instances
A 9 should be a priority but there's no guarantee it will be, a back up or simply another capable to cover Matusiwa is definitely important also | |
