did anyone hear DOS radio suffolk interview? 17:42 - Jan 24 with 2464 viewsashtonscoffeecup

he just said - its not the end of the world, just a football match.

he's correct of course, but is that really what we want to hear from the captain after a really poor 90mins? really strange thing to say

So that was all he said was it? Was there a question or anything else context wise or did he just slouch out, laugh his head off, say that and amble off again?

I think he's just not trying to over react to a loss. We've been on a good run.

You make it seem much worse and I'm not sure that is word for word correct.

He obviously meant it's one bad result in the context of a good run which is absolutely correct.

Went on to say they will look at it, correct it in the week and bounce back next weekend.

In one sense he’s correct of course, as every side loses the odd game. But the problem here is a wider issue, and that’s why are we so lacking away from home?

I’d also ask the question, as to why are some players continuing in roles that they’re making zero impact in?

Spot on. Ridiculous how some fans knee jerk to the slightest thing, take comments out of context and try to create issues where none exist. Irony is they’re usually the same ones who go overboard after a couple of wins too.

What gets said in public and what gets said behind closed doors will be very different too. They’ll be disappointed and annoyed at the performance today but it’s done now, don’t dwell on it, move on.

Oh no. Here we go. They’re all crawling back out of the woodwork. You only started posting a week ago and they’ve pretty much all been negative. Haven’t you got anything better to do. 🔔

I love dara but that is poor from him.

He is correct in one way.. but when weve not won a game from behind since March 24 you maybe would want your skipper to feel the pain of things rather than its just a football match.

But lets be honest. We dont overly care whats said as long as they sort it out away from PR :)

Egeli strikes me as higher ceiling but lower floor than McAteer. When he's on form he's an excellent player. But that's not often enough at the moment.

Well said him.

He's 100% correct, it's only a football game, and every team lose games, nothing strange about that.

He’s entirely correct but there are some things that should not be said in the aftermath of a rather pathetic defeat.

It's probably the level headed kind of thing that winds up in someone getting the captaincy.

Non story.

Is it? As with the OP, what was the context, question, full transcript of what he said? Was he laughing, yawning?

Without that, if one has not heard the full interview, then isn’t it a case of picking one phrase to beat up on a player that many of our supporters detest?

Of course he feels the pain. He’s a professional footballer. It’s his living. Is he an ITFC supporter putting in the extra mile? Doesn’t work that way. You are not telling me Harry Clarke wasn’t too bothered today because he was playing for Charlton which was why he wasn’t great.

I try not to over read things, especially when footballers are interviewed not long after a game.

Edit: read Phil’s post. There’s nothing to this. O’shea didn’t run around with his head on fire. Maybe that’s a good thing.

Its like the saying "Great minds think alike."

Whereas the full quote is "Great minds think alike, though fools seldom differ".

With no context, with no text around it, it's just a throwaway soundbite.

People will find any reason to moan; this place is top-notch for that

You can listen to it on the radio Suffolk website - I heard it as it’s just a game of football with a meaning one game, I.e. we shouldn’t overreact. The wider interview is good and talks about the pressure and level of performance both today and in previous weeks exactly how a captain should.

well, yes it is.
the manner of the defeat, and awful performance of a number of players, IMO, makes it’s a pathetic loss
