| Number 9 Week 10:13 - Jan 26 with 1565 views | itfcsuth | Has to be one in this week, let’s hear some names and suggestions from you? I’ll throw some out there: - Sam Surridge - Isac Lidberg - Ilyas Ansah - Evan Ferguson - Yousef Salech Further suggestions, who do you want? | | | | |
| Number 9 Week on 10:21 - Jan 26 with 1256 views | homer_123 | I'd rather ensure we have cover for Matsi to be honest. Further competition in the 9 role would be good, but cover for Matsi far more critical. [Post edited 26 Jan 11:21]

| Number 9 Week on 10:22 - Jan 26 with 1259 views | _CliveBaker_ | I'd take Surridge in a heartbeat but he's rumoured to be on a big whack, and it depends how he's enjoying life in MLS and whether a move back to the UK would appeal right now. I can't see it. Isac Lidberg, never seen him play. Ilyas Ansah - probably the most exciting on the list in many respects. I've heard very good things from my German football correspondent but he's another who would cost a bomb. Ferguson is an interesting one, it does look like a move out of Roma could be on the cards but I'm not sure he or Brighton would want him in the Championship when there are bound to be top flight options for him. One who would have a good chance of hitting the ground running though and there's not a team in this division he wouldn't add value to when fit. I like Salech but I think it would take a silly offer to get him out of Cardiff at the moment given their position. | | | |

| Number 9 Week on 10:31 - Jan 26 with 1176 views | Leedsblue1 | We cannot get through this window without getting a upgrade at 9. I think we miss Auto's without it. Saturday was the worst i've seen Hirst. He couldn't control it or hold it up. 3/4 times he laid it off too short and it was intercepted and i think i remember him winning one flick on in 57 mins. We can't have a focal point to our attack that's so ineffective at the very least, holding it up. Nunez was a huge loss but i saw enough when Anis came on that he can at least fill the number 10 void in the short term till Nunez is back. To turn back a few seasons, we need a Kieffer type figure. Yes please to Evan Ferguson but I think I'd give it about a 0.5% chance of happening so I won't get my hopes up. The trouble is the quality of no:9 us as the fans (and likely McKenna and Ashton as well) will want and what is possible to achieve as a Championship club are two different things. There's a big difference between playing fantasy football in our heads Football Manager style as to who we as fans would like to see the club get and what is actually feasible. I might be happily proved wrong but I don't think that as a Championship team we could buy a PL ready number 9 in January. So you're left with the option of buying an expensive number 9 (because strikers always are expensive) who can do a job in the Championship now but would likely struggle to make the step up to the PL should we be lucky enough to get there. Or you potentially get say a loan in of a higher quality number 9 who is either out of favour elsewhere and not playing or is perhaps returning from injury but unlikely to get many minutes in the second half of the season for their parent club and so either of these options are unlikely to result in a player who is ready to hit the ground running for us unfortunately. | | | |

Awoniyi scored for Forest yesterday so think he may end up staying there. We need a 9 but not sure how it fits with Azon finding his feet, Akpom loan to permanent deal if we go up and the Hirst on big wages. If we panic buy (as seen before), we could end up with another body who doesn’t bring the goals we need. [Post edited 26 Jan 10:39]

I think Salech injury isn't as bad as they suspected, but Cardiff will be desperate to keep him to get them over the line. I just don't see why they would sell now, they could no doubt get the same fee in the summer if they were that way inclined. He's worth so much more to them at the moment.

I agree with you, we aren't going to sign our oven ready premier league number 9 in this window just as we didn't last time out at this level. A loan would be my preference, in that respect Ferguson would be ideal but like you I just don't think the move is going to be appealing enough when there's likely to be other Serie A teams interested, probably even Premier League if he wanted it.
| Number 9 Week on 10:48 - Jan 26 with 935 views | ElderGrizzly | It's going to be a loan, which is perfectly acceptable for a Jan window, given our resources etc. We can afford to blow most clubs out the water in this division on wages and loan fee, so it won't be for want of trying we don't get someone in soon. The challenge I assume is giving confidence to the loan club (and loanee) that they will be first choice. [Post edited 26 Jan 10:49]

Edit - Yeah it was him , sorry forgot his name Ilyas Ansah I'd like to see one of the following but very much doubt it Taiwo Awoniyi , Surridge or Ferguson As someone else has said , it's just as important we sort this midfield out to be fair [Post edited 26 Jan 11:11]

If Young's injury is that serious, he'd come out.

| Number 9 Week on 11:13 - Jan 26 with 698 views | OldFart71 | My answer is I haven't a clue. But whoever it is I do not want an anyone will do player who we get in, we already have a pretty poor forward line with the exception of Clarke and Philogene and if our centre forward can't hold up play and bring others into play we are nowhere. | | | |

I wouldn't, but he clearly isn't coming here when he is one of the top scorers in the French League with 20+ goals already in all competitions. He's also subject of a £100m offer from Al-Hilal apparently. Saudi culture would be a nice fit for him I guess... [Post edited 26 Jan 11:39]

I’d missed Lucca signing so potentially we are looking. At 28, a style of striker KM likes, proven he can score goals in Prem, it would make sense.
