While this may be a great signing for us, I miss the days when a young player would get a season or two in the first team for their first club. This kid moves from being a fringe player in a league one side, to our academy side, and will presumably be quite a while before he’s ready for us.
I remember watching young players break into our first team at 17 and then develop before moving on. That is becoming increasingly rare for fans of lower league clubs. |  | | |
