Poll: Should Muric be dropped?

Good. Dreadful prime minister and the blocking of Burnham was the final straw for me even before this.

Came here to say the same. PMQs was an absolute bloodbath.

Questions of judgement and association with such serious criminals / criminality hits far, far harder than issues such as budgets, benefits or U-turns.

Poll: Where will we finish this season?

He hasn’t done himself any favours in PMQs. Hesitant, stopping mid sentence he seems unable to offer any defence, more like deadman limping off into the twilight. Guess he needs a scapegoat but lacks the courage to name names.

this feels like a scandal with a life of its own and who knows where it ends up. it's far from impossible that it finishes starmer.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

He pushes for law abiding citizens to have compulsory Digital ID in a state overreach, yet ignores vetting of people in his own party (in a position of power no less). The hypocrisy stinks.

A few politcal commentators have said it's the biggest political scandal of their lifetime.

There seemed a noticeable lack of support for him from his colleagues today. Takes a lot to bring down a PM - just look what Johnson rode out - but he could be in some trouble here.

For someone you'd assume is a fairly intelligent guy overall, this is stunningly stupid. All this for a US ambassador appointment? Insanity.

And they've essentially benched the one person in the party who could connect with people as well.

I guess Streeting would be next up who doesn't inspire confidence.

Starmer's judgement is proving to be pretty consistently bad. Thats a real problem if you want to be a successful prime minister.

I think it boils down to the fact that Stamer has no real political background or instincts, and so is far too reliant on someone like McSweeney, a protege of Mandelson, who was the primary driver of Mandelson's appointment.

And as I mentioned on another thread, Mandelson said of McsSweeney.

"I don't know who and how and when he was invented, but whoever it was ... they will find their place in heaven."

And finally, as I've said about McSweeney a few times on here. "He isn't the Messiah, he's just a very naughty boy."

That's my view too as I was a bit too young when the Profumo scandal broke.

Yeah it takes a lot to start to unravel them, but when that happens they can collapse really quickly. Someone need to start the lettuce timer lol

The scandal should really do for Streeting too - he's very much part of Mandelson's patronage network.

As long as the same judgement is applied to Farage with his proven links to Epstein and Bannon, all is good.

We wouldn’t want two-tier justice

Why would it? The Tories have proven you can change a PM every few months and just carry on.

Fixed term parliaments are a good thing for policy delivery

Starmer’s judgement of those advising him appears horrific.

I think his personal ‘morals’ vs political advice is the issue.

This was the full quote at PMQs. Not quite what Pippa is saying

“ To learn that there was a cabinet minister leaking sensitive information at the height of the response to the 2008 crash is beyond infuriating, and I am as angry as the public and any member of this House – Mandelson betrayed our country, our parliament and my party.

He lied repeatedly to my team when asked about his relationship with Epstein before and during his tenure as ambassador. I regret appointing him.

If I knew then what I know now, he would never have been anywhere near government.”

If it goes to the members it will be someone like Milliband; a bit like when the Tories kept picking the wrong PM because the members don't get the country
