Our "supporters" on social media - scum 17:42 - Feb 14 with 8492 viewswaveneyblue

So today, ive witnessed.

An Ipswich "fan" who's gone to the considerable effort to make a montage of George Hirst missing chances/penalties

An Ipswich "fan" joining in with a Norwich fan's post, criticising our signings.

Not to mention the pages that actively put a negative spin on absolutely everything Ipswich Town whilst claiming to be a long term "fan"

Maybe im old or a "Happy Clapper" but I find this behaviour utterly bizarre and really sad.

I’ve been called a lot of things in my time mate but pompous is a new one, so thank you for humoring me. In terms of pointing out where people are going wrong, if you’re going to be on the offensive so much on others you should probably expect occasional push back.

For the record if someone done that with Hirst then it’s stupid, just like getting on his back in the stadium is. I’ve seen you take a few potshots at people that have opinions though. Theres a few posters that seem to do that more than engage in discussion about the team. Most on here are big Town fans, even the ones that have been critical about some aspects of the season.

We’re all hoping for same thing come May. In terms of blocking or ignoring the trolls it’s just advice not telling you what to do.

Peace.

Look, as ive said many times before.

There is a middle ground, you know, the bit between brilliant and shit.

So many seem to have forgotten that.

Anyway, its bedtime.

Goodnight and sweet dreams

Your thread history shows different waveney. It's endless pot shots at other posters. You say youve shared you opinion. Where? 4 pages into your thread history and its literally all insults to other posters.

And no I took you off ignore as I noticed when logged off you were being abusive towards me even tho we weren't talking. So its easier to read your stuff when im logged on incase you do It again and i need to raise it.

Anyways. Night night

But yeah. Share some actual opinions.

Bless you.

The video montage was very c***y. You’d think at some point the person clipping and rewinding to find his money shots would have thought, hang on, I don’t need to be doing this, it’s not very helpful.

Yeah shocking that poor George his confidence is shot away that won’t help if he saw it.
Mind you making him Captain wasn’t a great idea either, for a game the manager didn’t want to win!

So what post within those 4. pages would you say were actual opinions about player performances and/or town performance in general.

George is fine. The least of our worries. Sad when players get singled out, it’s hardly support.

But then the happy clapping pretending we are elite. Isn’t support either is it. In spite of the obvious issues.

Neither are great. There’s probably a balance of scrutiny, without slaughtering individuals.

I find it’s the same group. They follow blindly. Clap anything. Dribble. Until they don’t.., then it’s 100% the other way.

Two cheeks of the same arse if you ask me. Pure emotion, gone too far.

There needs to be scrutiny. But for me, if a player is pony, it’s 100% on McKenna and Ashton (assuming we’re talking lots of examples).

It’s hardly Johnson’s fault, or Muric, or McAteer, or Akpom, or Walle, or Ogbenne, or Jens, or Greaves or Young, or even Azon and Georges fault.., who if I’m honest I’m a big fan of, runs his heart out, can finish, and we don’t press or create or have quick transitions, none of which he can control.

His touch could be a bit better, but he’s v good at this level with service …, no shots on target is a theme with Azon too…, more so.

So if we don’t hold oakuers accountable .., and I agree we should be careful…, and we don’t hold managers and CEO’s and chairman to account either…, what is the role of a supporter??

There does need to be accountability, agency, a voice, feedback, kind of essential to grow as a club.

For me. The players get too much criticism. The decision makers, not nearly enough!!!

The uncomfortable truth. The elephant in the room.

Critique McKenna and Ashton spending of over £200 million gross.

Some success some failures…, relative to other clubs, really really poor execution.

No ifs no buts no ambiguity. No but but the training ground (spurs would be champions league winners) just critical evaluation.

The same people who don’t want any player evaluation, and I agree, but they often don’t want ANY evaluation.

It makes them feel bad! .., that’s not support. It’s sociopathy, it’s not caring about the club, it’s fragile ego and emotions and individualism.

We need to ‘adult’ McKenna and Ashton. They are awful at the job of recruiting players, and the jury is in £200 million and FOUR windows with eye watering resources and were like Del Boy the day after he won the lottery!!!! AS A MEASURE not an opinion…, and I will list the 20 plus abject failures as examples if you give me long enough.., THAT bad. Abject. Awful. Appalling. Relative to where we need to be to be successful.

No no to digging out any individual player. YES to scrutiny of decision making.

They get paid well. Ashton especially is first to put himself front and create when we have success, it’s literally his job to deal with scrutiny and to take it in his shoulders.

And too many give him a completely free ride.., he’s AWOL when it doesn’t go well and when dozens of his signings cost the club its FUTURE!!!

It’s some ego.

I stopped using Twitter for anything other than following the official club feeds and official news sources a couple of years ago when Musk brought it.

I fail to see why anyone still poisons their mind to see the toxic crap which fills the rest of the platform. Stop looking at it people you will be a lot happier.

Since you obviously are in the know - and know best, please describe how the club actually operates from the owners down to the different departments including recruitment.

You explicitly say that dozens of his (Ashton’s) signings has cost the club its future. Dozens plural, meaning 24 or more. Please list those 24 that have cost the club its future.

Transfer Market say the gross spend 24/25 and 25/26 was £214m. Income from player sales just under £100m. Transfer Market value the current players at just under £200m

https://www.transfermarkt.co.u

However, I presume you value the current players at zero and the income derived from sales at zero. In addition, perhaps you can confirm that the club derived no income from tv or additional Brightpath investment talked about a year or two ago.

Lastly, you say we need to ‘Adult’ Ashton and McKenna. What exactly do you mean by that? I presume you mean you, given your contempt for the ‘happy clappers’ who ‘follow blindly, clap anything and dribble’.

Nice to see you back btw. You’ve not been around for a week or two. I presume you were on holiday or something.

See also the replies to the birthday message for George Hirst. Constructive criticism is fine, of course. This stuff is just pure nasty though.

And for the 10th time this season, anyone who think Mckenna should go is a complete moron.

It's been an absolute disgrace this season.

It actually makes me miss the crowd from pre game changer. As dire as it was, at least everyone there was a supporter.

Must say, it's been incredibly frustrating that my boy and I haven't been to PR since the Wolves league cup game in 2023.

We generally don't know if we're free until a few days before KO (at most), hence we usually get the tickets to crappy games. We did Reading away in the round previous too. Being a good judge of ability, I suggested, quite loudly, that Hutch was sht and should be sent back to Chelsea. Whatever happened to him, eh?

At risk of being all "woe is me", where were they all when we were crap?

Little point asking them challenging questions that they won't have an answer to Churchman. They just Troll-bomb a discussion, and then refuse to engage in a proper debate.

I stopped replying long ago - not worth giving the Troll the attention they're seeking.

From my experience in the SBR lower this season the people who scream abuse at our players almost never join in with any songs. It’s almost like they enjoy things going wrong so they can be proved right. I’ve no real problem with people getting angry at players now and again as long as they also make an effort to support the team.
And as for people saying they can’t be bothered to get behind the team because we are “not exciting enough” or “haven’t fallen in love with this team yet” - pull yourself together.
