Easier to hunt down 2 teams rather than one 21:57 - Feb 16 with 3785 viewsGlasgowBlue

Win our games in hand and we are 2 points behind Coventry and 1 point behind Boro. Plus we still have Boro to play.

What surprised me was how inept Boro were. Coventry had certainly done their work and although we went in strongly for Hackney it does show that stopping him stops Boro.
Coventry clogged the midfield and Boro's passing although the stats we high didn't work out like that on the pitch.
We have had games where we had 70% possession, but in reality that means nothing if you can't stick that round leather thing between the sticks.

If we're good enough to deservedly be a Top 2 side in this division, we should certainly be able to finish in the Top 2 from the position we are currently in.
If we are not, then we won't.

We will be ok as long as we get that first goal.

The worry is when we dont. We need to sort that issue out soon. Its the only real negative stat this season result wise.

For us to get promos we simply cant go the whole season without winning after conceding first.

If we win all the rest of our matches without ever going behind we will be promoted. This season most sides have improved greatly at the low block. We don't need to improve at turning games around if we don't go behind much, if at all! How often did Burnley win from a losing position last season?

A very good summary. Time will tell.

Of course that's true, but highly unlikely.

Burnley won 14 games away from home, championship record and only conceded only 8 goals away the whole season, so far we've conceded 17 and only won 5 away games. So I'd be surprised if we don't ever concede first again this season but it would be lovely if we didn't.

Wrexham is now massive. Having Nunez and Billy Jean back would be very welcome indeed.

McKenna will have a big call to make when both Mehmeti and Nunez are fit.

Is one more suited to home than away?

Could he play Mehmeti off the right? Alternatively, drop Nunez back in with Matusiwa but then I don't think Neil has come here to sit on the bench.

McKenna's always wanted 2 for each position. We typically changes most of the forwards in game, and the majority of the rest of the season is Saturday - Tuesday. We need the depth and they'll both play plenty of football.

we made wrexham away (league) a massive game after the showing friday just gone (cup), Covs win has now added additional pressure on it. i just dont know if i see us having the bottle to go there and get the win (i hope we have because 2 trips to north wales in the space of a week and not winning will hurt somewhat)

Can't see us loosing Saturday, after Friday there nothing can see us winning,

I'd be surprised if Neil is not starting every match from here in in, rotates the ball well, slides passes through well, quality player,

Both our two games in hand are away from home. Our away form this season suggests we won't win both of them. They will take some reeling in still.

We will have to play much much better in the away games in order to win. Coventry & Derby aside, we’ve been pretty poor away from home

Everyone always takes the positives out results that don’t go well, it was likely the worst result for us but people that thought Boro would stroll it from February were also premature.

We need a really good run between now and Easter.

Just like Barnsley beating Sheff Wed in March 2023 was the worst result....

We've played 16 at home, 14 away, so effectively our two games in hand are away games.
In fact Middlesboro have only played 15 at home and 17 away.

That’s down to the vagaries of the fixture computer. Our games in hand are Portsmouth away and Hull at home.

Preston and Oxford aside we have won 5, drawn 4 and only lost 3 away from home.

You seem to think 4-1 wins at QPR and Swansea were pretty ordinary or poor performances/results. I am not sure why.

Yes, we could do with better results away from home but our form really isn't as bad as some seem to make out.

You start off games in hand with zero points IMO, so forget games in hand just win every game till the end of the season and see what happens. I do worry if we loose to Wrexham on Saturday it will all be over from most fans view point.

I mean, win every game and we'll be promoted. That's mathematically guaranteed.
