I saw Russell Howard a couple of times ten or fifteen years ago and the first time he was so good I can only think of Billy Connolly as a better live comedy experience, and I've seen a few. I think the key to Howard's act is the way he reads the room and reacts quickly without doing so overtly. And he never tells standard set up and then punchline jokes, it's all stream of consciousness connecting up with audience suggestions to find the funny. |

Rosie Jones not even a funny comedian. Sounds bad but if she wasn't disabled I don't think she be on Television. |
She is an absolutely brilliant comedian in a Live setting. If she wasn't disabled, she would still be an absolutely brilliant comedian, but able to get her words out quicker. That would make her a better fit for the kind of "everyone talks over everyone else" panel shows which dominate UK TV comedy output at the moment.
She had one of the strongest opening lines to a comedy club set I have ever seen. I've written it out and deconstructed it on here before, so won't again.
She's a highly intelligent young woman who gets absolute filth and abuse thrown at her every day. Combine that with living with her disability, and in spite of all of that still smiling every day, and I can say that she's a better human being than I am. | | | |

The bloke that played the Jockey in Hi-De-Hi - one of my schoolmates got an extra role in an episode when they filmed in Dovercourt on a very dull and chilly day in September 1980. He played a child in 50's gear, flannel shorts and a tank top, obviously. We asked him who his favourite actor was from the show as he got to meet them all and he reckoned Su Pollard was the friendliest and Ruth Madoc was lovely, but he didn't like the jockey cos he smelt of booze and farts. I've always thought the jockey was a wrong'un ever since. |
