The Reaction From Some Of Our Fans... 18:24 - Feb 21 with 7311 viewsBad_Boy_Mark

At full time was shameful and embarrassing.

Most of you don't know me from Adam; I'm just a regular Dad who takes my young Son home and away.

We have seen some great performances, some mediocre ones and some poor ones too.

Today was not great defensively and we were as disappointed as anyone to see us concede 3 further goals after being 3-2 up.

However, this does not excuse some of the vitriolic behaviour that we witnessed today.

We sat just above the tunnel and as the players came off the pitch, there were hundreds of fans booing, effing and jeffing at the players, dropping the C-bomb, and using the various finger gestures...even at McKenna.

He came over to appreciate the fans for their support and after witnessing the above, he soon disappeared up the tunnel.

Dara O'Shea came off the pitch holding his hands up in a 'sorry' style manner - he got nothing but heaps and heaps of abuse. I know he didn't have his best game, but I'm not sure if this is the best way to give him encouragement...

I understand that it's a passionate game and we as a fan base, were disappointed about the manner of defeat but for goodness sake, this type of reaction has to stop.

Get behind the boys, like the song says "follow the Town, up or down"

COYB 💙 🤍

Yes. Sounds like even the 40-point superfans are fed up.

That’s disgusting for your son to witness. I’ve made my views known on just how poor our support is now and all your experience tells me is that I’m right.

Those cowardly people should be ashamed.

Plenty like that here too.

Because the fans saw no improvement.

I was there for the cup game last week, even though it was a shite display in the freezing cold we still clapped the players off and grumbled to ourselves that the loss was "necessary" to suss Wrexham out for today's match.

See what happened today?

I wasn't there, but I bet many of those who travelled last week - the 40+ points "superfans" saw zero improvement in throwing the Cup game away today, losing against the same opponent. Clearly, the team and McK has learnt nothing over last week.

If McK thinks this is bad, good luck to him if he ever goes to Spurs or ManUre

Mate, I said it before it’s a school bully mentality but soon run a mile if confronted. Crap behaviour and KM have then two bloody good promotions.

Thank you, I appreciate that but it's not the main driver behind my post.

My Son has seen similar scenes away at Middlesbrough and Oxford this season.

Imagine being abused and called an effing c-unit as you come off the pitch...from your own fans.

I just cannot see how this is going to help support our boys, they need us to get behind them...

Our support since the Prem season has been shocking..not in numbers where irs been excellent...but in actual support. One of the worst in the league for it sadly.

Man U have terrific away support that always gets behind the team. Spurs? Bit mixed, always have been.

The thing I noticed at Crystal Palace was when a bloke had a go at the full back when Chelsea scored their second, after a minutes rant 20 or 30 around told him to shut up and get behind the team. He shut up.

You won’t get that these days at Portman Road.nonce upon a time, but not now with our entitled fanbase. Times have changed.

Same at every club , we’re in a results business and if people are travelling hundreds of miles and spending fortunes supporting the team they expect results not a capitulation against Wrexham ffs

Not defending it but it's football, this isn't new. You must have seen this at away games before over the years?

I’m a ST holder but with young family don’t do away games. I’m genuinely intrigued what it cost for people attending today. When you consider that v what all our staff are earning you can see why there’s some anger.

Yes it was dreadful.

People telling O'Shea and KM to f off.

All the entitled morons who jumped on the bandwagon.

Is that some sort of justification?
To me, it just shows there are some entitled t0ssers following both clubs.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

I was just thinking, you can't blame this on "day trippers" as people say. Surely the majority of these fans must be the ones going to every away game?

I used to go away regularly in the 80s and 90s and our fans used to throw loads of abuse at players even then. That’s football, you have to be thick skinned or you are in the wrong business.

It's changed in the last decade. Fans will get the hump and show it but we lose a league game and you've got people screaming at KM to f off.

It used to be in football that you'd lose a game and that would be it. Now it's an inquest and performative rage.

It costs hundred plus each time. It's not cheap. But it used to be 800 of us to Bolton or wherever and there was a general sense you were there to support the team. Now you've got a load of idiots who think the game is just there to allow them to behave like morons and if the team don't win they kick off. That's not support.

Probably around the time people started turning on Mick. But I don't think it's unique to Town. It's sport in general. England rugby fans are calling for Borthwick to go after two bad performances despite a superb autumn. Palace fans were chanting "You're getting sacked in the morning" at Glasner despite him winning them two trophies in the last nine months.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?
