They've been dumped for sure and the self preservation of Starmer and Charlie more important to them than loyalty to those they previously protected.
Watching it playing out is fascinating as well as the mental gymnastics of your average Tory (Monarchy supporter, Starmer critic) and those defending Starmer whilst criticising Charlie/Liz.
If like me you think prioritising victims is most important in this, it's hard not to conclude that those helped Epstein (and worse) should have been held to account years ago. Starmer and Charlie's conduct/judgement looks worse by the day.

The only victim they're interested in prioritising seem to be UK Plc. I find it frustrating that the legal system swings into action when confidential information has been shared, but the abuse of women can be brushed under the carpet with a payoff.
Leaking state info is obviously serious, but it feels like we've abandoned our moral responsibility when the direct abuse of young girls in some of the most humiliating ways imaginable results in no consequences.

Really don't think Starmer or Charlie get one ounce of credit given their previous actions (or lack of)
Does feel like the start of a story that will take a long time to play out. Am sure if/when people are charged they will hide behind legal proceedings but their actions are hugely damaging to the Labour party/Monarchy.

Charlie doesn't, but I think a lot of people are damning Starmer for trying to use Mandelson to "handle" Trump and MAGA which whilst horrible, makes a lot of sense in some ways. No we know exactly what we do, it's easier to hit him with a lot more hindsight.

I’d like to think so, but suspect the Royals and political classes will both re-group and defend their respective areas. Mandleson being sacked and Andrew losing his titles seem to have helped lead to this moment; both being cut loose/sacrificed so those left in power can say ‘they’re no longer part of what we are’. It would have been much more awkward for those in power had they remained part of their respective families.

What I keep coming back to re Andrew is that for these kind of cases the burden of proof seems a high bar - and you obviously need to prove there was malicious intent behind it. Therefore it’s entirely plausible, perhaps even probable, this all comes to nothing either via a trial or otherwise - at which point you can imagine how that looks to Joe public. I think in that scenario all bets would be off imo on whether they survive.
Personally I think he has to do time otherwise they’re toast - and reading between the lines I think that’s how Charlie sees it too. [Post edited 24 Feb 9:22]
