Anyone got any albums they listen to that just seem to get better with the years?
For me it's The Black Album by The Damned.
When I brought it back home 46 years ago I was a touch disappointed with it, being a big departure from the sound of their first their first three albums. I stuck with it and came to enjoy it. Listening to it now that it just seems to be a magnificent work. Even Curtain Call which took up all of side 3 and which I tended to skip over, I really enjoy now. Those organ sounds give it real atmosphere.
Mind you I still skip the live side.
Anyone got any similar albums that seem so much better today than on release?
I'm not sure if albums like Who's Next or Crosby, Stills and Nash fit your criteria as I guess they were fine albums on release, so I'll go with Paul Weller's debut solo LP. Other than Quadrophenia, probably my most played LP. It didn't do too much in it's release but it just gets better as the years go by for me. Still as relevant as it ever was.
Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Perhaps a bit difficult to describe punk as fine wine but my appreciation for the first albums by the Clash and the Ramones has definitely increased over time, and barely a song more than 2.30 long.
And what could be more apt for our times than this?

The Jam....All Mod Cons UB40...Signing off
Funnily enough, I used to work with Ali Campbell's nephew. He was a professional footballer for a while but didn't enjoy it and gave it up to work in the tech sector.
The Smiths - "The Queen is dead" seems to get better and better the more I listen to it. See also "hatful of hollow" ( although technically a compilation album so not sure if this counts ).
Would also add. -
"Is this it" by The Strokes, did't like it much when I bought it at the time but love it now.
And "Substance" by New Order - another compliation but deifintely in the 'fine wine' category for me.

Got two goto albums...
A New World Record by ELO and of course The Specials debut album
ELOs A New World Record is excellent. Saw ELOs Out of the Blue tour at Wembley Arena. Rotten venue, but they were excellent and that remains a favourite album for me.
The first two albums I bought were A Trick of the Tail (Genesis) and Dark Side of the Moon. Both are still ‘go to’ and are still brilliant.
Bowie’s Aladdin Sane has stood the test of time too.
