Some noise for the goal 08:50 - Mar 4 with 1969 viewsSitfcB

Probably the most celebrated goal of the season so far - especially as it was Matusiwa as well and a real jump up from your seat type of goal.

From SBRU the noise sounded loud.

Atmosphere was better last night than it was Saturday, some good moments in the second half.

Think everyone realised how vital a goal it could be.

And the noise which died when Clarke somehow managed to miss was almost as loud.

The Crowd reacts to what happens on the pitch, when it’s just lots of possession tapping it around, it kind of stagnates in the ground, especially when by the time we get it near the opposing teams goal, it’s taken so long, they have everyone back behind the ball, you can just hear the tutting and moaning when we fail to break them down.

Much better atmosphere. Quiet periods especially in a nervy 1st half, but after the break it was much better.

Yep, the noise was huge. Atmosphere was a lot lot better last night overall than it was on Saturday.

The roof would have come off had Clarke put the sitter in!

Interesting I was at the game on Saturday and watched on TV last night. I thought the atmosphere was ok on Saturday and through the TV sounded extremely quiet yesterday (notwithstanding the goal/Clarke miss).

That's not a dig at all, perhaps I was only listening out at a particularly quiet moment. Pleased to hear it was a good atmosphere yesterday as we needed it to keep the players going.

Were you watching on Sky or town TV? I switched between at times and for some reason the commentary was much louder on Sky you could barely hear the crowd, however it sounded really loud at times on Town stream.

Noticed that on a few Sky games, guess they actively reduce crowd noise because of swearing and fans chanting about them!

Yep. Lots louder overall last night, and the roar for that goal was huge.

I was on Sky with their somewhat cobbled together coverage. They must have toned it down then.

The SkySports+ games are commented off-tube, meaning they sit in a box in the Sky studios in West London commentating by watching the TV screen meaning the sound of the crowd isn’t as it is.

The TownTV commentary team are at the game (for home games anyway) as posted already, the Sky ones (for the SkySports+ games) are not.

A very clear example of the atmosphere issues this season having nothing to do with the acoustics of the stadium and everything to do with the supporters.

When the fans are up for it, it can be loud.

Much better last night.

I thought it was pretty good last night, from my vantage point in the upper Sir Alf.

Imagine my surprise upon getting back to my car to hear Mick Mills on Radio Suffolk saying that the crowd were nervy and the atmosphere not up to much.

I think MM was still in awe over the magnificent pre-game light show that should have hyped the players up!!!

I think this is partially true. When the entire ground is in good voice and don't need to be triggered by others, like it was last night for much of the time, there's no denying the atmosphere can be great. However, when isolated sections are in good voice, it doesn't travel to other sections, and if some need a 'push' to get going, they just don't hear it.

I say this from direct experience, as several times this season, its sounded good to me, but others (in different stands) have said it was poor. I've also experienced it the other way around.

Last night I just think all stands were equally 'up for it' from the start, and didn't need too much encouragement to get involved.

For periods he was right. 2nd half was better but the 1st half was flat and nervous I thought.

First 15 mins of the first half was good, but when a quick goal didn't come, it did become more subdued and nervy. I began to hear the regular mutterings about 'passing it out from the back' and not 'shoot'ing at every opportunity.

We do have a lot of impatient fans, and that doesn't gel well when we have the ultimately-patient manger...

The noise at full-time was particularly notable, I think it is unusual for the full-time whistle to be celebrated that much, and shows what a huge win it was. Reminded me of Port Vale at home a few years ago.

They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

Was it the same as when they've done them before, or was this one somehow 'more magnificent'?

I was still queuing at the turnstiles as they were doing that, so didn't see the magnificence.

It was the XL version with fireworks rather than just flame throwers - also did the ground light show again
