3-2 v Southampton (h)
3-1 v Norwich (h)
2-1 v Coventry (a)
3-0 v Barnsley (a)

Impossible to put them in order, and they all have their different reasons.

There’s also many more I’ve missed off the list and I deliberately didn’t read the thread before I added mine and just put the first five that came to mind.

I bought a ticket for the initial fixture, when it was rearranged I thought I'd have to miss it. Eventually managed to sort out the time off work so I could head up with the 5,000+ other Town fans, one of the best football-related decisions I've ever made.

I was in the same boat, wasn't sure if I'd make it to the rearranged match. I was set to start a new job in May 2023 so used my last bit of annual leave from the previous one to go up to Barnsley from South Wales. Then went across to Ipswich for the Exeter game.

Must have cost me £300 in train tickets and travel over that four days. Best money I've ever spent.

I've been over to 5 games since McKenna took charge and 4 of those have been wins (3 v 1 loss to Forest being the odd one out). So looking at it from slightly different point mine are

ITFC v Bristol City 3 v 2
ITFC v Chelsea 2 v 0
ITFC v Norwich 3 v 1
ITFC v Swansea 3 v 0
I'll go with ITFC v Southampton 3 v 2 for the 5th - whenever I hear or see the term "absolute scenes" this game will always spring to mind for evermore

Didn’t one of the Barnsley vlogs capture some of that Blue Army chant?

That was by a Wednesday fan I believe, was very complimentary about us on and off the pitch that night.

If I were to choose one game from last season, it would have to be Wolves away.

A last minute winner, and at that stage it looked like we could survive.

Sadly, I had to leave for the train, so missed much of the after-game celebrations but Jack Taylor's celebration will live long in the memory.

Great thread

I am going to be the only person on here not to have the Sarmiento game on here. Not that I’m bitter about this, but I was in the air en route to Mexico at the time and landed to 100’s of WhatsApp messages across various chats to learn what had happened. Obviously delighted but not quite the same as living it live!

So:

1. Barnsley 0-3 Ipswich
2. Coventry 1-2 Ipswich
3. Ipswich 3-2 Bristol City
4. Ipswich 2-0 Huddersfield
5. Ipswich 2-0 Chelsea

Gonna add one that was a cracking win at start of 23/24 where I knew we had the spirit and mentality to push for promotion
Town 4.3 Blackburn
great winner from Mass.

My favourite 5 that I saw in person:

1. Gillingham 0 Ipswich 4 - a game that’s become like the Sex Pistols gig at the Free Trade Hall, Manchester. Everyone who was around claims they were there. But I was. Drove down in a monsoon, which stopped at kick off and didn’t return till the 75th minute, and we were singing and dancing in the rain. But not too energetically on that lousy temporary seating.

2. Sheffield Wednesday 0 Ipswich 1 - a Championship gulf between two sides who had been duking it out at the top of League One five months earlier.

3. Ipswich 3 Blackburn 0 - my most recent visit to Portman Road. Comfortable win, great performance, wonderful ground. My club.

4. Exeter 0 Ipswich 2 - Chanting derogatory songs about SKY.

5. Accrington 0 Ipswich 2 - Lovely memories of the barmaid’s cleavage at one of the local pubs.

Hard to argue with those. The others that come closest would be Port Vale at home 22/23 and Coventry away 23/24

I can't whittle it down to 5...

Tried but i had 7 straight away that i couldn't separate and i still wanted to find room for the final home promotion games!

Great thread.

For me there are so many obvious ones that have already been covered so I’ll throw in a curveball that wouldn’t make my top 5, but an alternative selection if you like.

Ipswich 3-2 Cardiff.

2 down with half hour left, Broadhead smashes one in & we go on to get the win, that first of many humdingers at Portman Road that we came out on the right side of that season & had we not done so in this game then it may not have kept happening with so much regularity thereafter.

Despite my earlier post i should mention the 3-0 away win at Peterborough was fantastic with me sitting in with the Posh fans watching the Blue Army thoroughly enjoying their day even if i did have to sit on my hands my heart was glowing with pride.
