They mostly look like us, speak the same language and have broadly similar environments. And then you realise they’re nothing like us at all. I spent 12 weeks in the US in 1979 at a summer camp and then travelling round eastern Canada and the north east of the States.
Montreal, with a definite European feel, was a breath of fresh air compared to the conformist nature of the places that I visited in the States outside of New York.

Yeah there’s no evidence of that I’m afraid, plenty of interested observers given the amount of western owned assets there, and unlike Iran there is no information shutdown, and plenty of observers on the ground. There’s a huge about of monitoring in the region, hence we have a good idea of the infrastructure which has been hit. My main concern would be be the Gulf states who appear to be running low on missile defences, and as per Ukraine might need to make some tough choices about rationing them.
There’s very little information coming out of Iran after the state have shut the internet down again, those on the ground have suggested that the US have move to attacking security checkpoints to damage state security forces directly (with the hope of anti government protesters gaining control of areas). | | | |

It’s very easy to conform either way. All the major western media outlets including Sky, BBC are reporting from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Israel has a free press including the left leaning Haaretz.
If Tel Aviv was getting pounded Jeremy Bowen would be wetting himself reporting the destruction.
Iran (and maybe Russia/China) are flooding the internet with AI images of Tel Aviv in ruins, Bibi lying under a pile of rubble etc. They are hoping the hard of thinking will fall for it. |  |
