when you could have been more optimistic about the short, medium and long-term future of ITFC?

2014/15.

Big Mick was behind the wheel. Daryl Murphy was in the goals. Not one but two Hunts in the team. Our away kit was orange. We'd recently picked up Jonathan Parr for nothing, and later I met Bart in Tesco Martlesham.

It ended in a fiery wreck but boy what a ride. Tyrone Mings!

Bart and D Murphy might make this squad in their day obvs.

100%

And McGoldrick. And there’s an argument Berra would be handy too. Although Mings would have been wasted in this current squad. He wouldn’t have got the game time ahead of Leif and that could have set his whole career back.

We had Chris Wood on loan too didn’t we? I thought he was utterly crap - one of life’s lessons to not judge a player too harshly in the moment (see Walle Egeli, McAteer, etc).

Controversial possibly, but I reckon KM would have liked Teddy Bishop when he first emerged and Cole Skuse.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I argued against it at the time but in our team I imagine he'd be a centre back.

In Mick's team he would have been utterly wasted at centre back.

But then Shhepshanks spunks the cash on a new Cobbold Stand and we get worse than Evans. Who knows what might have been had Zamora not been so uncharacteristically prolific in those games.

Fair point.

Capital (Aviva loan?) and infrastructure (PR + training ground) in a much more secure position.

Not one.

We’ve not had anywhere close to the financial stability and backing in any of the last 25 years, and have now received 2 PL season’s money to bolster that. This, and the owner’s vision, puts us in a different league to any other since 2001 and bodes very will for the future.

I never rated Cole Skuse but he’s still the player who I would like to have seen KM work with in order to see how he would use him.

Obviously in his prime rather than now.

I do recall when Evans first took over and bought Keane in, we were all pretty excited, thought that was us on the up.

Didn't last long though did it.

Wood just managed to get fir when Leicester recalled him, was very good at Watford in the Chaplow game. Might well have helped in the play-offs had we been able to keep him.
