Yeah, that's my thinking. Johnson was decent enough, but offers very little in an attacking sense.

To be fair we created more than enough to win that game.....again. I think his defensive ability was much more needed today and probably him playing worked out better for us.

I think we nearly created enough, but let ourselves down at times in our execution. On balance you could make an argument that Millwall had the better chances I think. We worked ourselves into dangerous positions but really fell short in the final mile in terms of turning them into goal scoring opportunities. Clarke had them on toast in the 1st half (and 2nd to be fair until he was moved onto the right). Would’ve liked to see Leif’s quality on the overlap, as it was JC was predictably left going inside into a lot of traffic for the most part. Thought Millwall defended well to their credit, and came to play.

Frankly, he has repeatedly shown himself to be a player who is short of the standard required. Today he did pretty well. if he played like that more frequently, he would get more chances to "show it".

Hold fire. Are you really suggesting we look a better side without Leif?! Being kind I'd say that was misguided. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I think better is subjective. We look more robust defensively. With him, I think we look more attacking and will create a load more with Leif. I think Greaves and Johnson are better natural defenders, so our shape and positioning is less expsoed. McKenna loves the high line and Leif gets caught comically out of position. Clarke offers zero cover, so it stretches everyone else and creates general panic. To me, it depends on the game but McK plays a system and doesn't seem to adjust for opponents or the circumstances. As endlessly discussed.

He put a lovely ball in across the 6 yard box that nobody could be arsed to get on the end of. He’d have had an assist if we had a proper goalscoring striker.

Be very difficult for him to show anything repeatedly as he's been rarely sited till the last week. Obviously not the attacking force of LD, but better defensively and on his " wrong " side.

what like last week you mean? So the defender who offers nothing going forward had an assist in one game and very nearly the same in the next?

We certainly look more solid defensively.

Ahh yes constant panic in the defence that has conceded the second fewest goals this season, yes of course yes.

Yes they are and for it should lead to changing our strategy. Would like to see 5 at back as this would give leif licence to play to his strengths. He does get caught up field quite often and this exposes Kipre. Also I’d pick BJ over Furlong any day. I think he would offer better support and is a better player.
| Ben Johnson very good again. on 08:58 - Mar 22 with 454 views | DJR | It's not going to happen, but I do think our problems down the right this season haven't been helped by having Furlong at right back because he offers very little going forward, thus making me wonder if Johnson wouldn't be a better option at right back at least in certain games given that he is better going forward. Of course, if we had both Johnson and Leif, we couldn't afford to have both of them bombing forward at the same time. [Post edited 22 Mar 8:58]

I like Johnson but Furlong is one of our most important players, he’s an aggro specialist he’s a big talker lots of experience presence in both boxes and he nearly scored twice yesterday. Absolutely nailed on every week.

Yep – Johnson decent but if we have Leif bombing on in some of those left-sided attacks during the second half we probably win it.

Not sure we concede that goal if we was playing RB yesterday. [Post edited 22 Mar 14:47]

You'd expect nothing less from defenders all bought for the Premier League. Leif does leave us exposed it's a truisum, not a criticism.. [Post edited 22 Mar 17:54]
