We can't just let Ashton get away with this. They are banking on apathy and time meaning it all just goes away.

I know a lot of you feel the same.

It puts them under pressure but I am hoping that Blue Action can do something.

They saved the club from Evans and they can do the same with Ashton.

You don’t seriously believe someone would sell a multi million pound football club because of pressure from a very small group of supporters?

And do I think what is acceptable?

Ashton meeting Farage? Yes

Allowing Reform to use the club for promotional purposes? No.

His apology? As far as apologies go, it was pretty bad, almost laughable.

Do I care that much now? Not really. I think there will be action internally at the end of the season but I don’t think now is the right time. We have a huge 5 weeks ahead that to me is far more important than any feeling I have for the club. One man doesn’t define this club.

Do you remember the BA campaign? It was sustained and effective. They didn't let up.

It put huge pressure on Evans. No doubt in my mind it contributed to his decision to exit.

Why do the matches ahead matter more than the feeling for the club you have?

We'll be promoted, relegated, and finish mid table many more times in our lifetimes. But the soul of the club might never be recaptured.

Utter bollox. If GameChanger hadn’t been right for the club, he’d still be here.
And I hated the guy more than most.

It’s a really difficult one.

I completely agree that MA has to go but it’s difficult to gauge the appetite for trying to force that.

Blue Action posted on here about their hideous interaction with the man which leaves them in a slightly awkward position I imagine.

My understanding (rightly or wrongly) is that anything they do in the ground has to be micromanaged and agreed by MA.

Are they minded to launch a campaign outside the stadium similar to the one they did during those depressing Evans/Lambert years?

We also have that dreadful issue with the hijacking and manipulation of the programme artwork by Louise Cobbold.

It would obviously put a great deal of pressure on Phil but I wonder how much heat he could exert by actively and continually highlighting the utter contempt the long-standing fan base on here now feel for MA.

The problem with that is something you’ve highlighted previously. The away-days have attracted a hideous and new element of ‘fan’ that seems determined to drag the club into the gutter.

Many of them appear able to create multiple new accounts on here that last for a few days before they’re terminated, only to be replaced by a massive influx of replacements, which hugely distorts the ability to gauge how the fan base, as a whole, actually feels.

My heart tells me that, unfortunately, we’re going to have to let this go and accept that pathetic non-apology as a line drawn under the whole disgusting episode…

Well balanced post.

This is always a fight people could come back to in the summer if nothing has happened. Season ticket renewals, Town TV subscriptions, new kit purchases etc could all be used if people want to do it.

Our captain has admitted to feeling the pressure. Our manager is probably livid this occurred. Our players are apparently angry. The owners didn't ask for this. It would be harsh to throw this season away now.

I think the owners will act in the summer.

Truly impaired.

Agree. See no way he can continue with this level of control and if I was a betting man I think he likely be gone after the season. Could be wrong.

Give it a rest. You're obsessed.

Every thread, you’re there, telling people to stop - it’s not a good look.

People have every right to be upset, Ashton is a total liar and has been caught lacking in a big way - then there’s the fact he invited a fascist round for lunch (yes, I know it was only one fascist and he’s hurting)

Ashton should be given dogs abuse next game, but I doubt he will- far too many quasi-fascist sympathising boot licking gremlins amongst our ranks.

You think a group of people sticking up posters outside a stadium he rarely visited put pressure on someone who owned several hundred million pounds worth of business? The only little pressure he would have been feeling is the fact we were losing money year on year.

Why? Because I love football. Ipswich is my team because I was born here and my dad supported them. Because of that I want them to win football matches. That’s more important to me than an individual or two allowing the club to stupidly be involved politically, whether intentional or not.

Agree but I wished I shared your confidence that change is on its way. Did Ashton strike you as thinking that in the interview? The Americans have ducked out of taking responsibility.

I don't think the Americans have ducked out of anything. It's been five days. Sacking the man at the head of an organisation like ITFC with no replacement is simply not viable. There are too many things to oversee and keep running. Can't just temporarily install his deputy, as Werhun was also involved in that lunch.

They'd need to find the right person, secure their services, then get them installed and begin the process of getting them up to speed on all the intricacies of running Ipswich Town in the midst of major expansion, redevelopment and, most significantly, the final weeks of the season with a strong shot at promotion.

It's probably not a very sensible idea for the good of the club. Plus the damage is already done. All we are seeing now is the ripples spreading out. Removing Ashton will not stop the memes on social media, the possible chants from opposition fans, the sense among many supporters that the club doesn't feel quite as close or as welcoming as it did.

For the future of the club, far better that it be done carefully and well, than hastily leading to regret.

If we get promotion that might be enough to keep Ashton in a job. If we don’t go up, perfect time to sack him and his entourage. This must be the most self-inflicted wound in football history. And all for what… a brief meeting with a grifting charlatan c**t of a man.

You reckon he will be happy taking a back seat? Gone I reckon.

Club structure needs looking at.

Anyway his apology was so vague he’s now being attacked by everyone on the right who hadn’t followed the day to day of the story as well. If you don’t laugh you’ll cry!

It is such a sorry circus. Completely self-inflicted and only made worse by the non-apology. Farage blusters in for a private lunch, blags some shirts, disrespects McKenna, then his social media fkwits rip off the artwork of the matchday programme artist. A whirlwind of c**tery. Zero gain for ITFC. Only loss.
