Yes and McKenna will be tasked with facing the questions that others have refused to engage with. Poor doesn't even cover it.

How do you see this going. One question from Stuart Watson right at the beginning, which McKenna will diplomatically brush away? Or will there be a few more of the nationals in attendance and he won't get a chance to talk much football?

Not sure honestly, bit out of the loop in recent days but I can't imagine at least one national broadcaster doesn't show up and have a nibble.

I wonder if McKenna will say he doesn't want to talk about it in detail but that it did upset his players. And if he is brave, he will say it upset him too.

Marcus Nash will read them the riot act before hand, you never get to see it as it’s edited out of the Ipswich feed but if you watch an away team’s stream they sometimes leave it. Remember him telling off some one once for asking something they agreed not to and he came across like a right ******

Think he will answer “we were disappointed “ and not elaborate.

In an ideal world Ashton would answer a few questions in a separate press conference, but no way will he do that.

I don't think he will, he'll be diplomatic as ever and dare say won't be drawn massively on discussing the rights and wrongs of it, nor should he.

He might speak about the impact on his players, as that's relevant in his role. Probably mention its something they discussed as a group, but he'll then shift the focus to a good 2 weeks of training, some players away, semi competitive friendly against West Ham and prep for a big run in etc etc. I don't think he'll talk in much detail about the wider political point around Farage's visit, and nor should he really. I would imagine his personal opinion is something he'll refrain from sharing.

What a guy McKenna is though, its quite something when he's not just the key football person but probably the most impressive diplomat in the club as well. Imagine Lambert, he could barely string a sentence together at the best of times.

Not sure he'll get away with that these days given his current image. Doubt anyone has much respect for him.

He will have to face them even if he bats them away – which is my point. He's the first member of club hierarchy anyone has had access to.

To be fair, seeing some of the characters that form part of the press pack, I have sympathy. Not a generalisation, but it goes both ways.

Can't stand that bloke, I've never met him and you should never judge until you have, but for me, something about him just makes me think he's an absolute whopper.

There’s some right characters work in Asda too.

Yeah, this is where I’m at.
Beyond disappointed that Ashton or as next best option Schwartz haven’t offered themselves up before the presser.

For me, this single act will convince McKenna to go at the next opportunity. Ashton is forever saying that he and McKenna are also ‘friends’ and he’s willing to let his friend take the flak.

For the want of a better term, that’s likely to be a gamechanger.

The only thing I can think of is has Ashton been told to stay away from the club pending investigations, which is why there has been no statements?

I don’t know about that. Football execs rarely front up. It’s common practice to let the manager take the bullets on these things as the most recognisable face of the club.

Not saying it’s right but it tends to be the way of things.

I know, but that is the only plausible explanation as to why he would be willing to let his 'mate' take the heat today.

That isn’t remotely plausible, nor remotely the only plausible scenario; nor are they mates.

Apart from that, I agree.
