I have no idea either way, but what you have to remember is that any frozen image is a single frame from a series of frames with gaps between them. If the ball is moving quickly it could be in in frame 1, out between 1 and 2 and then be back in play after contact with the foot in frame 2. A different video might well have a frame 'stride pattern' which coincides with the 'gap' in the example above.

Even if it was a wrong call it makes zero difference to their season whatsoever. The PGMOL apologies we have suffered could be the difference between promotion and staying down so we have good reason to mull on them. For Brum they may as well just shrug their shoulders and get on with it.

I wonder if it's possible that after the public PGMOL acknowledgements we've had recently with decisions going unfairly against us, might the officials yesterday been of the mindset "if in doubt, give it to Ipswich, we owe them"?

Given the strong penalty appeals turned down, I wouldn't have thought so.

I haven't seen a replay of the Clarke one. Looked like that was gonna get given. Another one that's only a foul outside the box.

Are extendable legs allowed? I’d have thought that’d be against EFL rules. Give the bloke a three match ban. That should rile them! I could t see from my perch but the footage I’ve seen since seems to show it was a poor decision. But that’s the way it goes. We’ve had bad decisions against us and for us as has everyone else. The solution is better officials.

The reality is, it was too close to be sure one way or the other. I believe it was just in, but the ref has to make a call with what's available to him. It's indisputable that the ball got VERY close to the outside edge of the line, and if the player get's it that close there's always a risk that it get's called out.
| Without wishing too sound like John McEnroe on 17:00 - Apr 7 with 896 views | 1Warky | Can anyone interested just put themselves out of their misery by going to the Sky Sports highlights on YouTube. When the first slow motion replay is showing (the same angle as the live footage), change the speed in settings to 0.25 and you will be able to double tap pause/play until the crucial moment. I did this in my madness and there is clearly green grass between the white line and the ball. Whether there is enough to include the full circumference of the ball above ground is anyone's guess. Sky should have done this but instead, they used a poor angle from behind the goal and paused after the player had made contact with the ball moving it back to the line. The director obviously thought he was judging an offside (requiring contact) instead of just pausing at the furthest point the ball had travelled. All subsequent drama is a result of this error more so than the referee. | | | |

The green grass shot you're referring to I think is from a pretty shallow angle (neither overhead nor along the line) so you can't make any judgements at all from that really. As you say the freeze frame in the extended highlights is useless because you can't see whether that's the frame which shows the ball at its furthest southward point or not, or indeed whether it's so close that there's a space between frames where it IS out. edit: southward not northward - that's the Cobbold stand behind! Insufficient evidence - gut feel, it never went out. Don't care, we've had so many sh!tty refereeing decisions against us lately we deserve a bit of luck. [Post edited 7 Apr 19:10]

I saw two freeze frames, the first one , as you say was not over but the second one was. I don't think either was taken at the furthest over the line. It doesn't matter now because it wasn't given ( like the two penalties in the other games ). [Post edited 7 Apr 20:54]
