I think it's fair to have a few digs. There are plenty of us optimists who've received digs throughout the season for being happy clappers etc. There were a few even calling for McKenna's head, saying he's been found out, saying he has no plan B, saying he sticks with his favourites. Some were doubting we'd finish top 6.
It would be nice if they came back and held their hands up, perhaps in this thread. But I doubt we'll see them... until next year. When the going gets tough they'll be back. |
I'd like to apologize, I have nailed him to a mast in the past out of my frustration at times, but he's a clever manager coach, he did say it would take time to come together,
The 23/24 squad had heart this squad is better more guile,
This squad with a few additions will fair better in the premiership for sure we're more balanced and not gung ho very patient,

Would be great to go up with time to spare but personally would rather we do it at home to QPR where 27k can enjoy it rather than 2.5k.
I think Southampton may well see to it that this happens so long as we do our part.
Ideally we'd go go into that game 3 clear of them with a considerable GD advantage. |

Not even me? As a pessimist yes I am feeling more optimistic but still concerned about Southampton if I am honest. 4 points from next two and I'll be very confident.
At the moment just enjoying finally doubling that lot again, other results were a nice bonus but this like winning the home game the highlights of the season so far, whatever happens I'll be eternally grateful to these players for achieving that, it's been a long time coming. |

Since the initial transfer window closed we've been consistent at 2 points a game, without being spectacular. We've won 3 on the trot just twice and have never really hit a hot streak of form, unusual for a promotion chasing team.
Had we been able to play Pompey in January and won I think the perception might have been different.
We're a bit fortunate that Saints were tosh for the first 4 months. I still feel we're 10 points short of where we should be, but so long as it turns out as we all hope I'm not too fussed. Its not been without its difficulties. |  |

I’m a lot more optimistic than I was 7 days ago.
Ive thought for a while now that we were destined for the play offs. I just didn’t have confidence in the team that they would stand up to be counted when the going got tough. They’ve gone a long way to dispelling that by coming from behind to beat Brum and putting in a really controlled performance yesterday.
We’ve also been massively helped by other results going our way. So it’s very much in our own hands now. Every game that our rivals fail to gain ground on us ramps up the pressure on them hugely | |

Nope. Not until we're mathematically over the line. Tottenham's issues have almost increased the importance of going up this year and, whilst we're now in a very good position, we still need to get the points on the board. Claim ten points from the next four and I might start to breathe but there's still a way to go as of yet. Add to this, from where my pessimisim is rooted, in the five games before Norwich, there were decent portions of each where we've been second best. Even yesterday, we struggled to do the basics at times, such as finding a fellow man in blue.
For those who are feeling relaxed and optimistic, good on you. I just can't shake the above and wish I could. |

Actually more than 30 on here wanted McKenna gone 2 December (double that thought otherwise on the uppie/downvote measure).
As a ‘happy clapper’ (along with apologist and unpleasant person according to a couple of posters), I’ve actually been pretty pessimistic about our chances. Hand up on that. It’s felt a season too soon. A team that was always going to take time to come together felt too disjointed and unable to maximise the individual player ability.
No different to KMs first team in L1. I just felt Coventry and M’boro in particular were too good this season. Millwall also didn’t go away.
I am still only cautiously optimistic, but the games are fast running out. I saw something in how the players went about it on Saturday; the response at the end. If any of the dismals doubt the attitude of the players they should re-run it. If we need something at Southampton I wouldn’t bet against this team getting it either.

Spot on with both observations. I'm an old school fan opposite of McKenna, I'm on a massive high at the moment but prone to big lows too all influenced of course by last result etc. | |
